NBA 2008-09 Season

I heard the same thing yesterday, when I was in and out of the Heat/Pistons and NCAA action. I actually rewound my HD/DVR to make sure I heard that right. That's pretty amazing!!

I also caught the conversation Breen, Van Gundy and Jackson were having about who should be MVP. All three of them said it was too close to call, and they wouldn't argue if any of the three were chosen. Van Gundy made the point that Wade has the least to work with around him, but that LeBron was the best player of the three.

I'll just say this, what these three players are doing is AMAZING!!!! It brings me back to the old Bird/Magic days. It's to the point that I look to see who the Cavs, Heat and Lakers are playing, just so I can follow these guys.

I'm enjoying the ride that these three incredible talents have provided us this season, I hope everyone else is! :)

Excellent point! I hate to use this comparison, but it almost reminds me when Sosa and McGuire were going after the home run record in one season.

Like I have said, there is NO DOUBT that the best player in the world right now, id Lebron, but the MVP is Wade this season. And repeating myself again, just because you are NOT THE best player, does not mean you cannot be the MVP.
Ask Karl Malone and ask Steve Nash...TWICE!

Forget about this year... as you think LBJ doesn't deserve it since he has a "better surrounding cast".

Wasn't that the argument AGAINST LeBron the last 3 years?! Hell, there is only 4 players remaining from the Eastern Conference Champion team just 2 years ago!

I didn't say he didn't deserve it...I am saying Wade deserves it more...

No, the argument last year was Kobe was that much better...period.

Unless you are saying that Lebron was far and above the best player in the game the last 3 years....then I will definately say you need to stop drinking the water in Cleveland ....

Lebron is has be a growing monster...last 3 years he has evolved into the best player in the game...gradually, not suddenly.

Ok, let me get this straight...

Being "better" only counts towards being an MVP only if someone else isn't in the same stratosphere that produces similar, but lesser numbers on a worse team???

Talk about a homer!

No...because Kobe was not only a better but alot more valuble toward his team. And I don't consider it being a homer, last year, Kobe to me...and I put him in the same category as A-Rod...don't hate hime, but ain't gonna get alot of love from me....

Wrong again.

2007-2008 Stats:

Kobe: 28 ppg, 5.4 ast, 6.3 reb. Holinger PER rating of 24.09

LeBron: 30 ppg, 7.2 ast, 7.9 reb. Hollinger PER rating of 29.15

Slice it anyway you want, LeBron was the better player last year. The only difference was that the Lakers were also among the league's best team according to their record.

And according to his peers, you know...players, coaches, announcers and GMs around they said what? Most would agree with me...INCLUDING those wretched, evil sports writers. But hey, what would his peers know right?

So I say, "slice it anyway you want"....his peers have alot more backing than just plain "black and white" numbers...

AND it wasn't even close.....

There's not too much to argue by looking at the numbers I posted. Numbers speaking LeBron was better last year.

Now, the one major difference between the two was that the Lakers had a better record than the Cavs did last year.

This must've been the one mysterious deciding factor that all of Kobe's "peers" used to nominate him over LeBron. :eureka

Listen....it's mysterious if he came in a close 2nd....NOT a distant 4th. EVERYONE thought Kobe was the MVP hands down....and the voting showed that.

Number wise, LeBron was better than Kobe. Nothing to argue about there. End of story. You said Kobe was better last year. You lied.

Record wise, Kobe's team was better than LeBron's team. No argument there either. Their records proved that.

Why am I showing you this? Well, because when the statistics are close, the voters tend to favor the player on the team with the better record.

Reason #536 on why LeBron should win over D-Wade this year.

Please don't. That one still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. LeBron, Wade, and Kobe are sure giving everyone a reason to watch the NBA this year. BTW - the Piston's are still playing without Hamilton, Wallace and AI, and while they are losing, it's encouraging to see the core that will still be here next year, playing so hard. Add in a couple of FA's and we will be competitive again very soon.

No....I didn't lie....neither did his peers. He WAS the better player. Number tell A story, not THE WHOLE STORY.

If I lied, so did MOST of the NBA because most of the league, players and coaches thought the Kobe was the best player. Or are you calling them liars too?

Who is spinning now?

I've asked you and you haven't given me an answer yet.

How Salsa... how was Kobe a better player than LeBron in 2007-2008?

Please don't reference the voters or his "peers." I'm talking to you. I know why Kobe got the award and I can accept it. You on the other hand won't admit to the very obvious reason why he was nominated.

My lesson for the day:

Kobe won the MVP over LeBron in '07-'08 for the same reason why LeBron will win it this year over D-Wade.

You guys do understand what neither of you's are going to change the other's mind, don't you?

It's just amazing how stubborn he is. No wonder Sandra left.

All I'm saying is that it’s ridiculous how the same argument that went against LBJ last year, work in Wade’s favor this year. Talk about a double standard.

Again and I tell you, if he was THAT close to being as good....why didn't he finish in 2nd place? Why did KG finished 3rd... I mean his team had a MUCH better record than the Lakers...?

IF we were to use YOUR logic....

Question: Why can't you ever answer a direct question and instead have to turn it into another question?

Answer: Because the answer proves your argument FOR Wade this year is wrong!

Seriously, were you OJ Simpson's defense lawyer?
