2009 NBA Playoffs

Man the Lakers have no heart. They are a bunch of bitches. Houston barely has enough guys to put on the floor and are coming off a 40 point whipping and the Lakers can't be bothered to finish them off. This is why I generally don't like the NBA. Too many teams with that attitude of play hard only when they feel like it.

Don't let one team or one series ruin your opinion of the NBA. There are a lot of other teams who play their asses off and have a ton of heart in this league.

First off I've got nothing against the Rockets. They are playing great in spite of being shorthanded. My problem is that the Lakers play uninspired basketball. They think they can turn it on when they feel like it. Beating a hobbled Rockets team should be like taking candy from a baby right now.

The Lakers, though, are soft. They don't play hard all the time. It's not so much quitting it's not competing. It's the let's leave guys wide open for three and hope they miss. It's when they do miss and a 7 footer stands there picking his nose while someone else out hustles him for the rebound and puts it back in. You can't tell me that the Lakers gave a good effort tonight. They played like they had a game to burn.

As for whether I've questioned UNC in the past, I don't know how it's relevant, but I sure have. Fortunately Roy Williams gets the most out of his guys so they don't lose often and when they do it's usually not due to lack of effort. But not every Carolina team has played that way.

The thing with the Lakers is they have all the talent in the world and they have experience too. They're playing a team that resembles a broken down old truck yet they are forced into a 7th game because they refuse to compete game in and game out. Maybe Phil Jackson needs to knock off the zen buddha meditation crap and give these guys a good old fashioned Boby Knight style ass chewing.

And yet, at the same token you are NEITHER giving the OTHER team ant credit for good play whatsoever....

What a 7 games series ALMOST ALWAYS does is prove the better team wins. ANYONE can win a one game playoff game....ONE bad break, bad call, bad bounce...one mistake and your done. BUT in a 7 game series, UNLESS you are either a bad coached team, ill prepared team or just not as good as advertised....you do not win a series.

Ron Artest, Shane Battier, Aaron Brooks and one of the most underrated forwards in the league in Luis Scola.

With that said, no way in hell the Lakers lose Game 7. Home court in the NBA Playoffs is HUGE!

But you HAVE to score TO WIN....and outside of T-Mac, Ming and Artest....WHO do they have? You cannot say their defense has been their main reason for winning in this series because if that is the case, you would have not lost by 40 and score barely 70 points....

Did you read my post? Aaron Brooks and Luis Scola have been instrumental in scoring points for the Rockets. Certainly not household names. I think they are flying under the radar since not too many people recognize them, but they can score with the best of them.

With that said, I still don't see the Rockets winning Game 7. No way the Lakers lose at home. Like I said, Home-Court in the NBA Playoffs is more valuable than any other professional sport.

No...they cannot score with the best of them because they would NOT be "flying under the radar" if they could. I DO believe that TEAMS and CERTAIN STARS can bring up the level of play in the playoffs....

For as many times as some have counted the Magic out, they force a game 7. And don't think for one second that the game IN BOSTON is as sure thing by the Celtics either. Same could be said about the Rockets....they are in a worse situation than the Celtics. AT LEAST the Celtics still have Pierce and Allen....what does Houston have? Really.....

What do they need? The series is all tied, and they're doing it without McGrady and Ming. I wrote them off when Ming went down, but now it looks like a blessing. The world loves an underdog, and I'm one of them. The Lakers are playing like the NBA finals are some sort of entitlement, instead of something that has to be achieved. If I were a Laker fan, I'd be worried. The first loss could be chalked up to looking past the Rocket's, the second loss could maybe explained by not knowing what to expect from a Rocket's team without Yao. But the third loss? Maybe these guys are just pretty damn good.

In one game upsets happen. To lose 3 games to an overmatched opponent is inexcusable. As they say once is a fluke, twice is a coincedence, 3 times a trend. The trend is Houston never gives up and the Lakers are soft. I hope Houston does beat them in Game 7.

There a 6 six teams left in the playoffs right now. 5 of them play hard every night and have been fun to watch. Guess who doesn't? The Lakers play like superstars some nights, others they play like the Clippers. I just find it offensive that the Lakers consider themselves a marquee franchise and championship contenders yet they routinely put out such lame efforts. They aren't championship material. They are posers.

I remember one time in the Finals back in the day the Celtics got crushed by the Lakers and Larry Bird was so upset that he called his temamates a bunch of sissies and he was right. Well Boston came back to win that series and I don't think Bird ever had to call them sissies again. I never recall the Bulls tanking games either. You think Jordan would allow that crap? You think Lebron would now? But apparantly with the Lakers it's OK. Shows how much of a leader Kobe Bryant is.

Yeah, I never considered Kobe a good "leader". A good player, yes. One of the best in the league, yes. Was it his fault some team members didn't play up to their potential, maybe. Kobe is a great competitor and I don't doubt his will at all. However, that is HIS team and you should expect a player of Kobe's caliber to step up and take responsibility for the lack of effort by his teammates.

Amazing..."lack of effort". You guys actually think that instead of giving 100%, thye gave only 90%??!!

ALL these pro athletes give 100% effort EVERY NIGHT. Does 100% generate a 100% success rate??!! NO! In the NBA, the center, who is usually CLOSEST to the basket, hits around 50% of his shots...a GOOD PG or SG hits around 40-47%...does that mean the center is working harder than the guards because his percentage is better? And also, comments like "lack of effort" COMPLETELY take away the effort the OTHER team has put forth such effort to win.

This is NOTHING against you HD....but I can never understand comments like that.

Yeah right. Nobody gives the same effort every game. That's human nature. Why do teams play harder in the playoffs or when they face elimination than they do in the regular season or in the first game of a series?

Championship teams win because they develop good habits such as maintaining focus and playing hard all the time. Just look at the Celtics and the Lakers. Boston gets down 28 to Orlando in Game 1. Do they say screw it it's not our night? No! They come roaring back and nearly win. Same thing in Game 5. Boston fought back and that time they did win.

Now look at the Lakers. You know how their night is going to go in the first 5 mins of the game. They are frontrunners. If the Lakers get off to a good start they're off to the races. If not start the bus. They're through. That mentality is weak. You expect it of a sorry ass team with a losing record not from the Lakers.

Nothing against YOU Salsa, but we must have been watching 2 different games.

The Lakers have as much if not more talent than any other team in this league and they are tied at 3 games a piece with the Houston Rockets (minus T-Mac and Yao).

Nothing against the Rockets, but this series should've already been over by now.

Blame the Hawks and Mavs- they couldn't extend their series.

i'm not looking to blame anyone. i'm glad those 2 series are over.:) i would've rather had yesterday's games tonight though. i couldn't see the whole la/hou game since i have to be up early the next day but not saturdays :D
