RTN & AMC 9

I am no longer getting my beloved 2 RTN channels, on my FTA motor 90 cm dish and what even worse my local station KFAC-LD is foot dragging testing their new digital signal by showing KTEL-LP Spanish programings on soon to be RTN station here in Albuquerque's TV market!!

Can't they move to a new freqs or not?

Oh well, now back to TV DXing.........:hungry::D

I don't think it's just you. It seems signal is down a bit lately, at least for me even on my 1.2m dish.

I lose it on G18, then try to re-aim my out-of-market (West Palm Beach) antenna to try and get WTVX-DT (sub-channel 4 is RTN). No luck on that one.

So..I figured why not try and aim for AMc-9 which was my last resort. Now I'm thinking of resorting to 87 West for a fixed position if nothing clears up soon.

I did add RTN on my facebook and they DID tell me that several possible deals were being worked in my area for a local RTN.

Look!!

POST #1000!!! It's been almost EXACTLY 3 years I've been here. So....about 333 posts per year on average eh? :)

I think RTV had some sort of issue Sunday, June 28. I tried tuning in the evening and everything was down on ku and C band. Later the repeating logo played over and over until about 10:pM EDT when the programming returned.

Yes they did. Claimed a server crash.

RTN

Good day. Before I go out and spend $100 on a big dish (90 CM or better), is RTN reasonably easy to get? Or is it a pain?

I've been reading thru this thread and some of you get it and some don;t.

My FTA is a Viewsat Extreme. I can disconnect the diseq for now and I can roof-mount the dish in the clear.

I am a newbie at "real" FTA, so any help with dish pointing and settings on the viewsat would really be helpful.

I miss my RTN!

Thanks

Ian R.

It takes a little more to get it but your should do fine with the 90cm dish.

I do not know anything about the Viewsat, you should be able to enter in the Transponder and all other data needed for RTV (RTN) channels.

First thing is do not put it on the roof if you can help it. Its a real pain to get to for adjustments and things change with the heat and cool of the roof if its not mounted to a solid point other than the roof its self.

It's stable on my 90 most of the time but rides on the border lately. There signal is way down. The Pansat does a good job holding on to it though. I look at the quality and can't believe it's working that low in the high 20's to low 30's.

pedro, surprised to see another kazoo member on here. See lots of people close, but never anyone else from kalamazoo.

The only dish I can reliably lock RTN on now is my 1.2m dish.

It is also stable on my 75e, and I'm getting similar results on my Pansat. Low 30s now seems to be its standard level, whereas it use to be low-mid 40s with drops to the 30s. Haven't seen it anywhere near 45 recently (even for a short time).

Every once in a while it hits 45. Mostly 29 to 33 bouncing here. But it's solid, I guess that's what counts. Although I'd like to see it at 75 with the Pansat's tight meter. May need a 10 foot solid for that :D Luken needs to quit starving those squirrels powering there generator.

This is an interesting and informative discussion, and explains why I can get very good signal quality from the stronger transponders on AMC9, but cannot lock onto the weaker RTN/RTV transponder at all with a 76cm Winegard dish. Receiver is a Neusat sp6000.
