You're an installer?

There is more to it than just not wanting to turn it on. DISH must pay EXTRA to broadcast the HD channel.

You know damn well that ESPN would rather DISH and you be paying a lot more to watch their precious ESPNU in awesome HD glory!

Therein lies the main problem. ESPN should be BEGGING Dish to carry all of their channels in HD, since there are many more every day that will skip on certain programming because it is in SD.

It shouldn't cost more to have the HD version as well. There should be a discount, but we all know that smart decisions take a back seat to bullying, money hungry tactics. :|

I would like to know this too. I'm in the process of searching the forum but, basically, I have the same setup as you (110/119 + 61.5) and I wanted to know if the 1000.4 replaces both dishes (so that I end up with one) or just the 61.5.

Just got off the phone. Dish Tech will be here tomorrow, to replace my Dish 500 ( 110/119 ) with a Dish 1000. ( 100/119/129 ) If for some reason they have issues getting the 129 signal, Eastern Arc is the next option. Since I have the service plan, it'll cost me $15 for the Tech visit. Luckily for me, my Dish 500 is on the side of the house, with all the snow we're getting in Mass today. Tech shouldn't have a problem.

That's good news. I can't do that because my locals are on 61.5 but at least it'll only be one dish. I had no idea (because I don't pay attention and forget things) that 110/119 was not necessary for EA. My 110/119 Dish 500 has four lag bolts in the plate (going into a brick chimney) my 61.5 only two (because the installer was lazy). The 1000.4 would never be secure if I needed to replace the 61.5, hopefully it'll be OK with the four bolts.

I thought the rep stated 1000.3 ? She did mention repointing my 61.5 would be part of the service call. So I'll still have 2 Dishes.

Well I don't know jack s**t about this stuff but I guess an alternative to EA would be one 110/119/129 dish (is that a 1000.3, I didn't think there was a 1000.3) plus a 61.5 wing dish. It seems that in my location the "neater" solution would be the single 1000.4 for EA but it might be that at your latitude the two dish setup is better.

OK, so what is the preferred method for us Eastern Seaboard folks? I have 61.5/110/119 right now feeding a 722, a 622, a 211, and a 510 on our only non-HD TV.

Do I call them to get the 110/119 dish swapped out for a 110/119/129? Will I have to kill the 510 to do so? (Maybe buy another 211 with an external drive to get the same functionality?)

I basically called them and asked what the plan is for me, since I have 110/119/61.5. She put me on hold and came back stating me Dish 500 would need to be replaced with a 1000. I'm assuming .3, since it's 110/119/129. I asked about Eastern Arc. Was told that's option 2, if for some reason the 1000 dish doesn't work. And a 61.5 repoint, if needed, while the tech is here. I'm in Northeast Mass, near the NH border. Now the online chat session stated I'd have to upgrade my 510. Asked the phone rep and was told I'd be all set with the 510. Guess I'll find out for sure tomorrow afternoon.

If you can, I would recommend you call them and ask for a 1000.2 instead of the 1000. Should be the same price and you will have the option of adding a wing dish at a later date without the expense of a switch. Also, don't give them the 500. you can use it for a wing dish which means if you have the line of sight, you can add the 61.5 to your setup with no additional cost.

Already have a wing Dish at 61.5. All I know is when completed, I'll have 110/119/129/61.5. She said 1000.x. Forget if she said .2 or .3. Was paying attention to the Sat positions I'd have. I'm assume this is what I'm getting, Dish 1000.2.

i did the same thing i called and was told that for $15 bucks they will add the 129 to my current setup... $15 bucks because of the Home Protection Plan... she said the Eastern Arc is not available to current subscriber...

Looks like they will have to make it available to current subs, if what I posted before is true....

Actually, now that I think of it, it might be a better setup for me since pointing a dish East will be difficult (my neighbor has a dish on the eastern side of my 110/119). Simply replacing the 110/119 (Dish 500) with the 1000.2 may be the way to go, if the mast and mounting bracket are the same or can be made to fit.

It still is, EA consists of 61.5, 72.7 and 77. You would get all the new channels with that configuration.

Hmm. I'm surprised they're replacing my Dish 500, instead of upgrading my wing 61.5 to EA. No worries though. If they can't get good signals with the 1000.2 , they'll have no choice but to use EA.

After these channels are active, are they still going to charge you for replacing your dish. If next week I call in and ask for FSC HD are they going to tell me I have to pay for what I already pay for? This is totally confusing.
