Sorry, but this is really funny. Plaxico is not allowed to play for an NFL team while he's in prison.
I saw the word 'sign' in that quote, but not 'play'.....

No, "semantics" is you ignoring the two years he was locked up.

Well he really couldn't play while he was in jail, I doubt he would of got a work release to play football.

But once again he ONLY got two game suspension when he wanted to play again for killing dogs and running dog fights and Ben got 6 for....wait......seving alcohol to minors. Hmmmmmm.

Actually, Big Ben was not even charged with serving alcohol to minors. He got six games for...legal conduct unbecoming an NFL player.

Some are saying Vick got 34 games for his felony conviction. Depends on how you want to look at it.

Those people just want the worse for Ben because he won two Superbowls and some of their teams never even made it to the Superbowl. Hell when their team was getting close they packed up and moved to another city.

I understand he wasn't charged for that, I was stating that was one of the main reasons he got suspended.

"As the District Attorney concluded, the extensive investigatory record shows that you contributed to the irresponsible consumption of alcohol by purchasing (or facilitating the purchase of) alcoholic beverages for underage college students, at least some of whom were likely already intoxicated. There is no question that the excessive consumption of alcohol that evening put the students and yourself at risk. The Personal Conduct Policy also states that discipline is appropriate for conduct that 'undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players.' By any measure, your conduct satisfies that standard."

I understand why you would think that about me, but that is honestly not the case. I want the worst for Ben because I hate men who show a lack of respect to and (allegedly) rape woman.

i'm sorry but since when what drunk women say have any credibility? a drunk minor sounds like a person i would believe whatever came out of there drunk a$$ mouth.

she ain't any better then Ben being involved in this BS in the first place.

I still don't get why we're making comparisons between Ben, Vick and Pacman. three cases that are very different imo. I think Vick has paid enough for his disgusting acts. Jail time, lost plenty of $$$ and two game suspension (which originally was four games). sounds like enough. Pacman isn't even worth mentioning here since the Fool is always involved in some kind of trouble. Ben hasn't been arrested nor charged with anything, yet he gets a six game suspension ( with a possibility of only four).

The law couldn't find anything that proved Ben raped this drunk girl so he's innocent of a crime. it seems to me that the NFL is paying attention to the morality part of this issue. its possible this suspension indicates that where the law says you're innocent till proven guilty, the NFL says you're guilty till proven innocent. just as the law couldn't prove ben was guilty, the NFL couldn't prove he wasn't so there comes the suspension. there wasn't enough to convince the commish that Ben didn't violate conduct policy. still doesn't mean he did or didn't rape anyone. and its logical to believe that the commish was also pressured by the court of public opinion who wanted Ben's head on a platter. so in the end i think a six game suspension was a bit harsh but there really wasn't any other choice.

Hopefully this should help Ben make positive changes in his life. If it doesn't and he repeats something similar and it turns out he was a rapist then i hope they lock his behind up for a long time. but right now its not the case and it would be wrong of me to call him a rapist. Only time will tell if he indeed was a rapist or if he was just a dumb ass.

But there again you are blaming him for something that no one knows if it is true or not. You are taking her word, but her word isn't enough to convict.

You guys are confusing the ability to prosecute reasonable doubt and the fact that Ben has told his story to the Commish and the Rooneys.

If things were markedly different, the Steelers and Ben would have asserted as much. Absent that, we are left with a very bad night for Ben, legal or otherwise is debatable, but an avoidable and shady situation.

You are innocent until proven guilty, and in the NFL you are held to a higher standard than reasonable doubt. What Ben's side of the story (which we've never heard) + the police report = why he was suspended. Absent any rebutting of the things in the police report, we are all led to believe and judge him as if that IS what happened. There was just enough reasonable doubt that conviction of a crime would have been difficult.

No you don't .......
You and HDMM want the worse that can possibly happen to Ben because you don't want to see him BEATING your Browns.

Admit it ..... I knew that was HDMM's motive from his first post.

BINGO!

I spoke to a cop friend of mine that is a HUGE Steelers fan and stated the exact same thing the StevO and I mentioned... MORE than likely, the NFL did their own investigation, like ALL smart major companies, before making any decision. Then, you add THEIR investigation, the police report and other things that may not be known to the public and finally, the fact that Goodell told EVERYONE he was gonna run the league like a dictatorship....he warned EVERYONE about conduct issues...over and over and over again.

He was not under any pressure I think because it was par for the course, as they say, for how he has handled these "conduct" issues.

You're probably overanalyzing this.

Goodell had the advantage of the detailed police report that contained all of Ben's admitted behavior plus the stuff he denied. Thanks to the latitude given to him by the NFLPA, he most likely had all of the information he needed and was able to apply his conduct policy in this case. NFL investigations normally occur in instances when there is no official police report and/or the player denies all wrongdoing. Evidently, Goodell thought what Ben copped to was bad enough....
