Big Ten to Expand?

I seriously hope you forgot to add the Smiley face !!!!

University of TOLEDO can and did beat Pitt in Football !

There is NO WAY Pitt is on the same level as the top of the Big 10.

Pitt would perennially be a middle of the pack team in the CURRENT Big 10

Pitt is MUCH better than Cuse in the last 20 years

:up:up:up:up:up:up

You guys seriously think that with being in the Big Ten would not help with recuiting and push Pitt back into a serious National Power like they used to be?

Quit smoking the weed and wake up.

BTW: The QB at Ohio St would be playing at Pitt if they were in the Big Ten.

Doubt it. He turned down a gig at Penn State. If he wanted to remain in PA and the Big 10, he would've gone there. Not sure why you think PITT is such a glamor school.

I'm not arguing against Pitt as a Possible target for Big Ten expansion.

I understand fully if the Big Ten turns it's eyes toward the Big East, that Pitt, West Virginia, Rutgers and Syracuse all have plusses that make them solid candidates.

My point is that because Pitt has some decent accomplishmnets the last few seasons it's because of the utter mediocrity of the Conference they currently reside in.

IMO Pitt becomes a midlevel type team in any other BCS Conference they might join.

Better than that though will be watching Syracuse and Rutgers be exposed. Either of those teams becomes immediate cellar dwellers in any other BCS Conference.

But you are still ignoring the improvement in recuiting from being in the Big Ten.

Maybe? Maybe Not?

The overriding factor though IMO will be Pitt losing that soft Big East Schedule.

I'm all for expanison and Conference Realignment.

I'm very interested in seeing the Big East teams that could be on the move and how they fare in a different conference.

I don't have a problem if Pitt comes to the Big Ten, I just don't see them being a Powerhouse in football that you appear to think they will be ....

They will have years where they are very good and in the hunt, but far less than your expecting.

Pitt basketball would be right up there in recent years, but football would be middle of the pack in most years.

In what way are they keeping up with Penn State ?

Woah, easy fella. How are they "keeping pace" with Penn State?

Recruiting.

OK, who are the upper level Big Ten programs?

Let's just put it this way Curtis, if (a big IF), Pitt is accepted into the all-mighty Big-10, you'll be fighting with Northwestern and Indiana for the football recruit scraps. The Ohio States, Penn States, Wisconsins, Michigans, Iowas and Purdues of the world will get first dibs.

Pitt has an undergrad class of a mere 17k. That would make Pitt the smallest school (besides Northwestern) in the Big-10. Who would want to strut around a high school sized campus when they could be among the best and play where the BIG BOYS play?

Why would the recruits that Pitt gets be any different than they are now? If anything, they'd be better as big 10 has a bigger cache than Big East.

I do think Pitt would be able to recruit a little better athlete with a move to the Big Ten. Not sure that would be enough to offset the degree of difficulty in the tougher Conference schedule.

While I do think it's a reasonable assumption that Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan would still be able attract a slightly better recruit overall than Pitt. In no way do the Purdue's and Iowa's of the world attract any better recruit than Pitt on the whole.

...and App State beat Michigan. Your point?

Pornstache has them going in the right direction in a big hurry. Dion Lewis could easily be a POTY candidate in any conference in the country. Romeus is a friggin stud, too.

You B10 guys are almost getting as bad as the ACC knuckleheads.
