There is no relevance, start a new thread. When there is no new data, there should be no new posts. Someone who's subscribed for fix updates, which is the TOPIC of the thread, is forced to listen to this off topic banter. Threads aren't there for your amusement when nothing is going on.

OK, Elway, then there should be NO POSTS in this thread as there is NOBODY here that is working on the D12 Sat to give us any REAL info, everything here is speculation till D* says otherwise.

IIRC, they can do some testing, but D* had wanted to do some really high powered testing as well. That they can't start yet.

Maybe that's what I was trying to remember, with mixed results! :D

As a movie lover I am unhappy with DirecTV's premium channels. FIOS had all 26 HBO/MAX channels in HD. DirecTV has 4.

Why bother? You could get a netflix 4 or 5 out at a time plan for the cost of a couple of directv's premiums and watch exactly what you wanted. With 2-3 day max turnaround time, you could be watching at least 2 movies a day of your choice. For a few bucks extra a month they'd be blu-rays, but i've found that a decent upsampling player with a dvd produces a very nice picture.

Fwiw, this was not my post, it was taken from a post I had replied to. :)

OH here we go with Netfix.
If there was no netflix, what excuse for not having hardly any Premiums would you guys come up with then?

This is a whole other topic.

Any movie netflix has I've seen or can order VIA VOD or PPV.

If you've seen them all, why worry about the channels D* has, everything that comes to the Premium channels have already been on the PPV's.

Why not just go OUT to see the movies and not worry about it ?

We all know how Netflix works. We also know that Netflix does not REPLACE movie channels. Half of the fun with movie channels is that you stumble across movies that you otherwise wouldn't watch or think you would be interested in. You may never order an unknown movie that turns out to be your favorite movie, with Netflix. You have your queue that is generally full of stuff you plan on seeing. Things you know you want to see. Believe me, when you have dozens of HD selections (premium channels) and then go back to the handful of premiums offered by DirecTV, it makes a noticeable difference having such few options.

?
Because D* is my TV provider. I don't have Time to watch 3 movies a night, With premiums there is a Huge variety that can be recorded in HD and netflix is only limmited to what you can rent, and when it gets there. No where near the same thing.

Again if D* doesn't want too add to some of the stuff I like once in a while , They can simple let me go!

They are worried about 3D TV and they don't even have D10 working properly, so many missing local markets, and 95% of their HD DVRs , are still flawed.

But atleast we have over 35 HD RSN's and 30 HD PPV's.:)

Most D* customers don't understand this, Because D* Premium Variety are the least in the Business. And mostly consist with East and West that repeat every 3 hours.

But again Nothing from D10 right now, and D* is worried about 3D TV.

Lets Finish they other stuff like HD tv first.

3D ?

How much have we heard about 3 D from them ?

They have a few channels out and recvrs have had a 3D download, thats it.
Yippie, I really don't see them putting 3 D ahead of all other things.
I think they simply have it for when it's talked about in the future that they can say Yes they have it.

I really can't see all these HD TV's being replaced by a HD3D set, hell, there's probably only about 30-40 % of the market that have a HDTV, let alone more than1 in the household.

.
Tune to Channel 106.
June 11th.

So this is ahead of all the missing HD channels that are still missing.

I saw that, but what that is , is a special event, not a channel that is there everyday.
Once that event takes place it could be many months before they have anything else ..... note could as we really don't know.

I HOPE the 3D thing is very temporary.

I hope 3D becomes a VOD option only, and leaves our satellite bandwidth alone.

I see 3D tv with the same outcome as HD DVD. Dead!
