Just when over to SkyVision tonight and found what looks like a new listing for programming for the 410 & maybe also the 920/922 which does not look like anything that was there before and on Mikes web site. I hope there will be more to come because I'm not impressed with what I see as a lot of channels appear to be missing from their listing so hopefully this will be updated before the 4th and the missing channel put back in. Or maybe SRL will have a better listing.

Not much in a way of entertainment but I'll subscribe anyway too show support & hope the choices improve.
FMC, Chiller, History Channel, NGC, Sleuth, & Nick. That's about it for me. Unless I'm reading something wrong.

I can't see how we're reading it wrong that is what has me somewhat perplexed as why put the time and money into a new web page if it's going to change this next year. It's showing pricing now for monthly, quarter and annual which I believe some of those price had been removed and the A La Carte programming list appears to have new items added. What showing is less channels for the 410 than even before. They also updated their home page with new information which I wish would have been done earlier but like you I will get some programming and hope that someone just jumped the gun and there will be more updating. And it could be SRL will have more when they update the programming list but it's still showing the old channels.

The Skyvision list is down because.

1) HBO is gone
2) Discoverys are gone.

1) HBO is History they wont sell to us pulling a Showtime. (DN pizza behind this)

2) Discoverys. Need a new contract and there in negotiations until a done deal can't sell. Won't be done by Jan 5th.

Web pages can be updated very easily they can change as much as one wants.

Will the programming choices be the same from both SRL and Skyvision?

Will they be the same regardless of whether you use a 410 or 920/922?

Who needs HBO when there's Netflix, VUDU, etc? :D

Anyway, maybe someone hacked Skyvision to make it look like there's less programming? ;)

Discovery is gone? What!? Wow. I've been out of town a lot in the past couple of weeks and it appears that I've fallen behind on the latest happenings. That is a disappointment. I don't care that HBO is gone. I get "HBO Canada" on my Bell TV pizza dish, but I really liked the Discovery Suite of channels on C-Band.

Due to the many changes affecting the C-Band system, we will no longer be able to offer some channels. These channels will be deauthorized at 10:00pm CST on December 29th, 2010 and will not be available in the future. We apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to offer you with the C-Band services that are still available on satellite W5.

The following services that are not available on W5 will be deauthorized on December 29th:

Food Network, DIY, Discovery East, Travel Channel, TLC, Mav TV, NFL Network, SRL East Coast Networks, Denver Networks and Wealth TV.

HBO/Cinemax and all Discovery channels will also be deauthorized December 29th. This was a decision made by HBO and Discovery. The signal will still be available on satellite W5 but they are denying access to big dish users.

Please visit our website for updates.

Sincerely,

Satellite Receivers LTD.
Programming Center

this is just what i got in my email from srl this isnt looking good at all for me darn it!!!!!

This is all very sad. SkyVision / SRL have done a lot of work and testing to get the 4DTV units to work on the W5 satellite, and now the programmers are forcing them to NOT sell to us? There has got to be more dirty pool happening in the background that we don't see...

Discovery is an all or nothing thing. HBO has been persuaded by Charlie to not sell one way or another (speculation: green mail) I guess Ergan will not stop till c band is dead. One way or another it will backfire on him. I'm starting to think the hell with ALL the subscription channels and go strictly to FTA once my pizza contract is over unless things change. Why support legal criminals.

If my memory is correct, it was HBO who started the scrambling of signals back in the early days of big dish (when everything was FREE). It seems now they don't want anyone on BUD getting anything relating to their services.
I am glad not being on the pizza pan, don't miss it. Paying nearly $90 a month for all the programming but only wanted to watch just a few is really pitiful. I am watching the 4DTV situation hoping to be able to select what I really want to watch at a affordable price. This will make 4DTV more appealing than the wasteful big money pizza pan choices. Folks on DTV and Dish are fusing about the rising prices of their services.

I've considered getting DirecTV mainly for the NHL Center Ice package. Hopefully, there will be more BUD owners as time goes by so that we can get more sports packages. If not, I'll live without the sports (unless I win the lottery - then I'll buy everything).

Being familiar and working in our local business community...its funny in this hick town i live , we still have business men just like charlie who gag on gnats and swallow camels. they literaly will strive breaking their neck to scoop up every crumb of something left to make it their's. even when the crumbs will make virtually no difference to their worth or success. i am not even kidding- this who even shows the personality types we are dealing with.

i can tell you this- as long as i live....none of my family or friends will ever use Charlie's pizza services. In fact with cable and satellite rates increasing......i see subscriptions dropping across the board. with many areas capable of good Digital over the air reception....many of the elderly people in my neighborhood- i have installed rooftop antennas for them (winegard 9095 P) on chimney mounts because almost 100% of their tv watching is local channels.

i went for many years without any subscription tv back when tv was analog. i got used to it and it was fine. with digital over the air tv and free to air...i don't feel i am missing much. i am so used to free to air ...mom lives in my house and she has directv HD. i have a directv receiver in my bedroom connected via HDMI to my 47" 1080P capable flat screen...its funny however i never really use directv except for the weather channel occasionally when its gonna snow.

i watch my pansat 9200 HD almost totally....

Yeah, I miss the good old days when the stuff was mostly "free". Anyway, I sometimes wonder why they still scramble when there's so few of us left - there's not much to gain by forcing 15,000 people to sub to a pizza dish or cable. Of course, if they stop scrambling there could be a huge upsurge of BUD owners. Also, I wonder why we can't get studio quality feeds via subs or OTA - what's the point in doing studio quality feeds when most people can't get that quality anyway? Oh well, if we didn't have something to complain about, life would be dull.

Although I am personally tempted to deprive myself of the pay TV programming I enjoy, I cannot do that to the family. I have been contemplating letting a few weeks lapse into the new year but I know it won't last. As it is, I have trained other household members to enjoy the retro TV channels and OTA networks and FTA channels. Now most can qualify as broadcast engineers having learned to switch between all the various equipment we have setup and what satellites to point at for programming, but that's us. Most people other than our members here couldn't be bothered.

I appreciate the fact that Skyvision and SRL are trying to keep C band going for the those that want it. We are going back to our roots in many ways and I hope it will pay off.

C band masters are mainly scrambled not as much because of us "home users" but because cable companies will steal signals and re sell them. Hotel chains and other larger institutions. They don't pay the programmer anything and sell the channels. i remember reading an article about this small town cable company owned by a guy who had pizza dish accounts in all his family member's names with the maximum number of receivers on each account..he had a little headend somewhere and had all those pizza pan receivers on multi switches with composite video feeding modulators and was selling cable using residential pizza pan receivers with dollar store rca cables LOL....sounds like the G3 uplinks haha

It'll be interesting to see what happens if the price of gas every hits the five dollar mark as some are forecasting in two years. What will it be, food on the table , payed TV or gas in the tank so if the pay TV companies are now loosing customers what will they do if this every comes to be. I like my options and right now it's the BUD and FTA programs. I hate to be locked into contracts with no way out.

ROTFL, the G3 uplinks were never that good!! :)

Cheers
