It's Official - iPhone on Verizon Wireless

For the record, this is true with Android too. I can transfer all Android apps between different devices tied to my google account. All of the apps from my Droid were available for my Droid X, and for my Galaxy Tab. pay once, use forever.

The ipod/iphone app syncing is pretty cool since it is tied to the account on itunes and not on the phone. SO when my kid's friend got an ipod touch, my kid made sure he got all of his apps. :)

Never said it wasn't the same. ;) I just find that it is easier with the iPhone and iTunes. The wife and I had Android phones and it was a PITA IMO.

Yes, you would be able to transfer the apps. You can have the apps on as many devices that you would like as long as you use the same iTunes account. This is the one thing I like about the iPhone and iPod Touch. I have 2 iPhones and 3 Touch's and they all can share the same apps.

Thanks, did not want to pay that slingbox app fee again!

Finally and unlimited data too... I wonder if VZ will shame ATT back to unlimited data.

VZ's 3G does not support simultanious data/talking. It has always been that way.

Looks like the Hotspot app is included for FREE while AT&T Charges for it.

No one asked if Facetime would work over the Verizon Network (while on AT&T it only works via WIFI.)

If people are upset, they can only be upset with themselves as they did not research it.
All this info is swimming around the internet and relatively easy to find.
I am able to upgrade Feb 17 and can not wait to get rid of this Crapberry.
I am not extremely tech savvy but yet I still know that 4g is coming and if a 4g phone of my liking is not available on Feb 17, I can wait another month or 2 to get what I want.
Even if I do upgrade then and skip the 4g, it isn't like I can't upgrade it again in a year.

Scott, the Hotspot app is included with all Verizon Android phones (and tablets) too. It doesn't mean its free to tether. It isn't, and I'd be utterly shocked if they allowed iphones to do it for free and not all their other phones.

its free with root access

Yes, no different than the app on my Droid X or Galaxy Tab. You still will have to pay the fee to use it. Probably $20/month or more. There is no reason to believe the pricing will be different than their tethering plans for tablets and phones. Verizon gives NOTHING away for FREE. One of the reason why so many of us root our Droids, so we can accomplish the same end via wireless tether, without paying Big Red.

iPhone 5 should be coming out this spring. Rumors are this one will be the first 4g iPhone

That would be interesting. 4G phones out before AT&T has 4G operating. They don't even start deploying until 2nd half of 2011. I look forward to a l-o-n-g rollout.

My contract is up next January. Maybe I'll move to the "5" then, keeping my unlimited data. Maybe there'll be some 4G somewhere I travel by then. Maybe.
