Help convince me that Apple Computers are worth it..

I have to disagree with this comment. Normal everyday use they are pretty much the same. Even home networking is just as easy with a MAC as with windows.
Because I can do EVERYTHING on it I could on Windows, and in some cases do it BETTER (such as Video editing) and I dont have to worry about Virus's and Malware.

When you install a program its in its own container, you dont have to worry about things messing up the registry... It works SO well!

To love Apples OS you really need to play with it... you will be fustrated at first but soon you will beging to enjoy it... then really like it. It is really powerful.
Home-networking? How well do those HRxx's see your library or perform with DirecTV2PC? How well do those MACs perform as servers compared to Windows based servers? How well do MACs communicate with other devices on your home network compared to windows based PCs?

Gaming consoles networked to a PC, PS3 and XBox particularly?

With the right add on software it streams to the PS3 and xBox just fine.

Ironically, I use iTunes on my PCs as my default music player.

WMP is still needed for networking my music on my home-network

Doesn't that sort of demonstrate my point?

The point is that it is still possible with very little effort.

Is Mac OS perfect, no but you can sure say the same thing for any MS OS out there. It all depends on what you need your computer to accomplish. The one piece that I like about my Mac is that it runs just as fast today as when I purchased it 2 1/2 years ago. Does the hardware cost more, yes but the factor for my spending the extra money is the lifespan that people see out of the hardware. I would rather spend a little more up front for the ability to keep the same piece of equipment for a few extra years without noticing that I am running on dated hardware.

Works fine with my HR24 using EyeConnect.

I am able to connect and transfer files between all my computers and my mac, even my nas.

I am guessing you have never used a Mac or did any networking with them.

Let me add again, since people missed it in my previous posts.

I have no issues with MAC at all. There are things MACs do better, such as video and music editing. There are things that PCs do better, such as networking.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MAC Pros:

Video editing
Music editing
Ease of use for those not familiar with computers
More stable
Ability to run multiple OS (meaning you can do most of that listed below)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MS based PC Pros:

Cost
Ability to build your own at low cost that is better than anything on the market
Ability to add and upgrade with ease
Home-networking
Software compatibility (not much of a difference anymore)
Easier to tweak settings and change things, particularly if you are good at understanding registry keys
More variety to meet the particular needs

You realize it is easy to upgrade the hardware in a PC?

I can say the same for one of my 8 year old built PC's that has pretty much run 24/7 for the whole 8 years. Upgraded it as needed (more memory, video card, ex) and still runs like it did 8 years ago (minus the short in the Ethernet port, only an issue when I boot up with the Ethernet plugged in)

I use MACs all of the time, but I have not done any networking with them. I have done research on it and from what I read, PCs are superior when it comes to networking. Am I incorrect? That does not mean MACs are horrible at it.

Does DirecTV2PC work with MACs? What about Media Share? Do game consoles network with them as easily as with PCs? Are you able to do everything with game consoles on a MAC and PC without the add-on software?

The OP was curious as to why MACs are superior. From what has been posted so far, with the exception of video editing and perhaps stability (which can be overcome if you build your own PC) I have not seen anything posted that shows its superiority. I basically comes down to preference, use, need, and taste. I am glad there are other options aside from MS.

Again false. Easier for me to connect to my work domain with my Mac then it was with a Windows PC.

This is one of the great things about the mac. No registry keys to screw with, everything works great when installed.
More variety to meet the particular needs
Your blowing smoke here. A Mac can do MORE then a Windows PC can. You have Windows, Mac OS and FreeBSD on the same computer. Thats a BIG advantage. :)

The answer to all your questions is YES.

Again it does WINDOWS, its does MAC and it does FREEBSD. It is 3 computers in one. Plus the hardware is rock solid and so is the support. Have you tried called HP lately for HP computer support? ;)

Really? Then why does their website state otherwise?
DIRECTV Is the DIRECTV2PC application available for Mac?

Why would I? I don't own an HP and never will. I build my own PCs which are better than any MAC you can buy

If nothing has changed in the last year or so, you can't configure the Time Capsule router using just a browser (without some serious acrobatics).
And can't change the MAC address. I'd think this pretty much closes the network topic but most likely these are features...:)

Also, I don't believe in video editing superiority.
Publishing houses some 12-15 years ago? Yes, 90%+ Macs.
At least the encoding part in the video editing workflow is not Mac's nowadays.

Diogen.

Most others would disagree and again. And the fact that something networking features do not work with MAC OS (unless your are talking about running Windows on a MAC)
This is one of the great things about the mac. No registry keys to screw with, everything works great when installed.
Which also handicaps the users into tweaking their own computer and OS as they would like.

More variety meaning more types of computers.

What do you need to configure in Time Capsule? Nothing really to configure in it. You just tell it the disk you want to use and it goes. Very simple.

As far as Video editing goes, take a walk into ESPN and you might be surprised. :) (Macs and XBOX 360's!)

You are upgrading the hardware so it is not the same as using the exact same hardware for all of that time.

Considering I have performed more upgrades than you will ever do on x86 based hardware, yes I know how easy it is. The problem is that I an tired of doing work on hardware so I would rather avoid it if at all possible.

How much to upgrade "Microsoft® Office Starter 2010"
