Yeah, i'm just kidding! But, come on TvroPro get it out already! We aint getting any younger and the DC2 our 4DTV's can receive probally isn't gonna be around too much longer.;)

If it cant be viewed and they can throw it around in the skies anywhere they want anytime they want without it being viewed, wouldn't they add more?

Will Map Master work with parallel port BDM devices (specifically the P&E micro cable 16/32 P&E Microcomputer Systems - CABLE_16/32 - CPU16/3xx BDM Interface (5V, Parallel Port) - 68HC16, CPU3xx, Interface Hardware/Cable that was supported with the 4PLAY software) or just the USB device?

Right now Map Master works with the USBBDM NT device. If that cable can read and write to the 4D you may be able to use it. We have a special interface file were using for the cable we have been testing with. Down the road there may be other ways to interface. We have built a prototype LPT BDM device but its not at the fore front right now since our efforts are focused on the maps and Map Master itself.

thanks for the time and effort you guys are putting into this,
now that there is hope for 4dtv, i guess its time to buy a receiver!!!
btw, how is the motorola hd200?

The HDD 200 is a HD decoder only. 4DTV's supported by Map Master are 920 922 and 905. Down the road we may be able to play with 410's 405's and other Shaw boxes.

I haven't contributed anything to the project. I don't have much extra money or time. So I view myself as one of the ones who will benefit from this project, without any of the pain to make it work. That's why I don't ask "when is it going to be done".

I will really appreciate Map Master & all the effort that the crew put into it when it's done. I think it's really cool that this was even attempted in the first place.

Cheers

Someone had to step up to the plate and do it.

Actually, no they/you didn't have to do it. That's one of the things that makes it cool that you guys are doing it.

Most should know by now I have a special love for C band. I have had subs since 1987. IMO there is nothing else like it. I tried using pizza to fill lost channel void now and pizza is nothing but a joke with its continuous rain fade, contracts, subpar picture etc. I love any C band master I can get ITC daily or once a year. With Motorola putting the screws to us I knew our 4D's were in jeopardy since they all need a MR sooner or later. With the HITS maps you loose a lot. I didn't want this to happen to us so I started what I could to get something working. And guess what it works and works well.

We payed good money for our 4D's and they are full view satellite receivers. Why shoud we have to make them X4 bricks because Motorola could care less about us. The little guy always gets hurt and the megalomaniacs get away with murder. I fight for the little guy, we need more to do this with so many things today.

All in all I'm glad I'm able to help us all out. I'm just the type of person that thinks of others and helps when it is in my power.

tvropro, even though some of us are not able to financially help out or even help with the programming, I, and I'm sure many others greatfully appreciate your hard work.

I appreciate that.. I don't mind being the one doing what I can to to keep us alive. I will get my reward in heaven.:)

If I can add my two cents worth. I would like to remind Tvropro of an age old trick called the "Trojan Horse". All someone from motorola have to do is make a couple posts to piss off you and the team and if you take the bait the rest is history. You would decide that you are doing your best and people are ungrateful and you and the team might even decide to take a break from the project and the plan would have work "hook line & sinker".

It is human nature to react to certain things, but I would advise you to ignore some of the touchy stuff, you never know who could be Judas.

Keep focus on the project.

Regards,

Candid

Well said Candid.

Tvropro, you know by now there are a lot of people who appreciate the efforts of the MM team.

So many people want to contribute but don't have anything to offer, other than words of support.

I think the efforts of the MM team are commendable to say the least, the stuff being dealt with might not be rocket science, but it seems damn close, especially when you're working from the ground up with limited information and no support from M.

Slightly off topic, I'm always amazed that there area daily posts in this forum, what it means to me is that there is a lot of interest in the big dish and 4dtv etc.

Limited information on this decades old technology has been the cause of most of the delay in official rollout of MapMaster. Just keep in mind we are working diligently at it, but we are human and have families, jobs, sicknesses, etc too, so sometimes it takes a little longer to get it done than originally planned. It will be worth the wait. Remember the only custom support that was offered in the past was 4play (thank you Rod for providing me with source), which was very limited and with newer f/w didn't work as intended. We are going one step further here and will not rollout until MM is ready for primetime.

I don't think that mighty M will have a problem with MM and ability to customize maps on OUR boxes, but you never know, so maybe this info would be better in WUT area. With that said, I want to reiterate that MapMaster is for backup and restoring channel and satellite maps ONLY and will NOT open any non-subscribed channels. If -any- channel is in a format 4DTV compatible and ITC, it can be added to maps, no problem.

MapMaster Team - Gettin' it done.

Good words from everyone. Thanks for all the different views and advice. As far as Motorola they are too busy counting there billions and screwing up current things they sell.

...I also have figured out a way to overcome Motorola's maps from overwriting our custom maps. It has been tested and coding needs to be done...

I got to thinking about the statement quoted above. Does this mean that we will be able to lock the Canadian birds without overflowing the TDT? If so, that's a big deal.

Cheers

I will always be interested in things relating to the big dish for the hobby but I admit I did move on for daily household viewing. But I will keep my DCII equipment connected.

Hopefully projects such as MM can bring back a few doorstops back.

To the Map Masters team,

.Whenever and whatever you donate the the Cband community is greatly appreciated...because as we all know there is no other game in town. I appreciate all that you do and have done, sorta of blazing a trail if you will.

You know if everyone sent in just a small amount of money 5 ,10,15 or 20 dollars would go along way to help finance project. Its not hard they do except paypal, that's just a couple coffees for this week.
And thanks again guys looking forward to release just like everyone.

I just want to add my 2 cents. I appreciate the work and dedication from the Map Master Team. Go team :high5:
