This was just reported today by the Wall Street Journal. When the announcement was made, Sprint stock jumped $.54 a share. iphone 5 will also be carried at the same time as Verizon and AT&T upon release October or November.

I would get rid of my EVO for an iPhone 5. And moving to an iPhone 5 would save me money as I wouldnt have to pay for 4G anymore which is great since I dont use it... everywhere I try it I barely get a signal and it eats the battery like crazy.

WP7 has years to go before they can even be brought into the picture about being in the drivers seat.

It wont take that long.. Android already admit their not worried about Apple it's Microsoft and with Nokia getting back in the game plus all the other manufactures that make WP7 devices. I think some have no clue... :)

I do but I like the iOS platform better. It just works.

Yeah but you can't customize iOS as much as you can Android. Don't get me wrong I love iOS on my iPad but I don't care for it on a phone.

When did Google say that? It's a two OS race in the smartphone game and iOS and Android are winning. Every other OS is just josing market share.

I had an iphone then had a android. The entire time you have an android you try to get it so it works like an iPhone and you see apps on the iPhone you wish you had on android. Dont get me wrong eventually they do come to Android, but its like the phone is some red headed stepchild or something.

I personally like the iPhone better as well. I am waiting for the iPhone 5 to possible bring me back from Android.

As of right now the numbers don't support WP7 becoming a big player in the market. They might improve some with the Nokia agreement but it is way to early to call them victorious.

That has everything to do with developers. I think that will reverse soon with Android having more market share. There are certain apps though that you unfortantutly can only get on one platform and not both.

Shouldn't this be a thread about Sprint and the ipone instead of another thread hijacked to be about WP 7?

Yeah this would be good for Sprint and Apple.. It's smart on Apple part to have their devices on more carriers.

If iPhone 5 is 4G capable and Sprint finally brings 4G to Detroit, more than likely I'll switch to Sprint. If that's not the case then I'll settle for that Android phone that's coming to Walmart's Straight talk. I figure if I can't get unlimited 4G for a reasonable price then I'll settle for 3G at a great price of $45/month for everything unlimited. But I'll wait until all the announcements are made for the iPhone 5 and Sprint 4G.

I don't try to get my phone to work like iOS. I like being able to actually configure my phone completely and if I desire, change the OS.

Maybe you are trying to do that (MIUI cough cough) but I'm certainly not.

Now excuse me while I go swap my sd card out ;)

It actually has more to do with the phone users. People who buy iPhones are far more likely to buy apps so developers typically target the iPhone first. Several developers who were targeting Android first have shifted gears and are now targeting iOS first.

Interesting. But I guess I'm not too surprised.

Hardly. I haven't seen anything predicting major market share for W7. MS track record in this area is abysmal. Nokia is heading south, sadly. And Android has more security concerns. I think Android will continue to move to sales dominance, but Apple will continue to reap the most profits. And MS will fall on their sword. Again. Just maybe not quite as bad.
