I want to see the interest in Map Master so I'm creating this poll. This will help us in how much we should add to the program.

You can add other reasons for wanting map master here and your dream list for us.

Thanks all.

I plan on using Map master to define and watch DC2 signals that aren't already in the receiver mapping or generics.

If there is any feature suggestion I can think of, if MM is going to be like 4play in the way the signal database is done, I have no problem if it comes down to editing the text file in a format similar to 4play, but it would be cool if MM would have a screen of the various data fields that you could input data into and MM would write the info into the text file in the right format -- I remember sometimes forgetting a field or misplacing a comma when editing the 4play data file with my word processor and my 905 didn't have those services available to tune because of my error and then I could go clean up the text file entry that was in error and reload it into the 905 and be fine from that point.

Features to eliminate the use of the generics by placing the channels in the map of the correct satellite so scanning the skys would be easier without all the calculations and which generic to use etc.

The ratings bug issue on the 922.

I would also suggest all possible features that you can think of should be added to give and keep life to a receiver that motorola and others tried to kill. These receivers are out there somewhere and if MM is the motivation to bring them from the storerooms make sure that MM is the ultimate that the 4DTV receiver can support.

Do not rush the project and worry about time, the posts about the Manhattan is proof about taking time.

Looking forward for the ultimate my 922 can do whenever it is released.

Thanks,

Candid

Thanks for the input so far. This poll is open ended so those who didn't vote feel free.

I don't think my 4DTV is worth the price of the 60 dollar cable! Mapmastered or not!

What kind of 4DTV do you have? Is it a 922? If you are not into using it anymore, I would like to buy it if it is a 922 in good condition.

How about the option, "Not currently owner but want to support the idea of satellite programming options?" I hated having mine sit, so it went to another member of this forum rather than sit unused......but, may go back to one in the future! (I went DSR-410 to avoid ANY problems when the shutoff was scheduled.) Your work is appreciated!

That is the lowest price USB-BDM cable out there. That is what the USB guy charges. I have no control over his prices. We have built a prototype of a LPT-BDM cable that needs software support still. It has been put on the back burner for now. We decided to focus on MM development since the issues have been resolved with th USB guy to get rollout sooner. The LPT-BDM you could build yourself for less money. We will look into that again at a later date.

I'm sorry you figure your 4DTV isn't worth the money to be able to control it. Heck $60.00 is less than 99% of the people with pizza spend a month for programming in it's butchered state.

That's very true! It's also less than a tank of gas!:D But, has it stands now my receiver isn't bricked. Still has the generic tiles and moves my dish for the AZ box fine.

Got that right on the gas. I have no bricked 4D's here some were but no more :D

But one never knows when the receiver will act up and decide to revert back to the original maps and your left with no DCII mappings and no generic maps.
I just had this happen to my 920 receiver over the weekend and it is not fun!

4DTV's can master reset at any time. My 922 rebooted by itself years back freaked me out. A friends 4D did that a a few times then it did a MR by itself. At that time G1-3 was still there so he reloaded everything and it was ok. Once the memory has corruption in it it can and will happen. Now all you get is an X4 brick from Motorola. Bricked receivers are very limited. As research goes on we will be able to take control of more functions through programming our DSR's. In short it open's up a new world of features that GI said they were going to add many years ago but never did. Time we get the best out of the 4D's :)

I think it would bother me more if my DishNet HD receiver took a dump or the AZbox! :D

Looks like the pizza lovers are coming over to the 4D area to spit at the big dish again. Must be nothing on their great systems. 500 channels of butchered crap picture made them go blind or maybe it's raining there and there getting a searching for signal message :D

BTW does Dishnet get ABC Family HD, Disney HD, and Disney XD HD in low rez lite yet?. I was watching it on a C band 8PSK HD master for quite a while for free :)

I wouldn't say i'm a Pizza lover at all as the sad fact is Nps and SRL left me with no choice. As neither of them could bring the big dish into the 21st century. Heck, i don't think they even tried. They both wanted someone else to do it for them. With, no out of pocket cost:eek:
