He's not wrong until it happens.

Ask yourself "why is it not released yet?"

easy answer if you look back at this whole hopper launch... software isn't ready.

It's already on the Dish site, there's a manual, we have a reasonable guess that Scott is testing it and everything looks good, the actual production model was shown at Team Summit.... these crackpot theories of it never coming are fairly ridiculous

As to how well it works after it's launched, we'll see when it's in the hands of a few dozen people and all the bugs are worked out.

I'm perfectly aware that it showed up temporarily in the Dish store. I'm also 99% certain from Scott's comments that he's got one and is using it. Until EVERYONE has access to it, I'll believe it when I see it. As I said before, I'm holding out for the Hopper until this is added. I hate to burst people's bubbles, but it showing up in the store, Dish having produced thousands of them, users beta-testing it, etc, etc doesn't mean it will happen.

If Dish does announce one day that they've cancelled plans/support for OTA on the Hopper, I may still go for it as it does have other benefits over my 722k. Then again, if Dish does cancel OTA plans, I don't believe they'll even say anything. It will just quietly go away.... They'll pretend it was never an option !

I'm with you on holding out until it actually comes out. I got a 222 based on Charlie Chat where Charlie said they were adding dvr capability only to be disappointed. I then waited for months for the sling extender only to have it cancelled- even after Dish showed off a supposed production model. I am not going to reextend my contract based on Dish's promises of future functionality.

It didn't "temporarily show up." Just checked, it's still there. As Sparc said there's manuals already out for it as well. It's pointless to argue about whether or not it is coming out, but I'm still betting that you are wrong. The Sling Extender story and DVR on 222 is completely different. Hardly anyone cared about that, hardly anyone had 222's, whereas Hopper is supposed to be Dish's flagship model, and at the rate that local channel disputes are churning, Dish would have to be incredibly stupid to ditch the OTA support at this point.

It does NOT show up for me. Maybe it's a "smart" store and only shows what applies for each customer and as I don't have a Hopper, there's no need for it to show up for me. Copy and paste (or take a screenshot) of what's shown for you.

Thats already been done. How many times do you need to see the same picture?

Yes OTA is coming. It is real and yes it works. That's all I can say about that. :D

I bet these things start getting mailed out in the next few days if the dispute with Gannett doesn't get handled.

Just like Hopper only accounts don't see the 722k OTA adapter or a 21.0 remote. Thats how the store has worked for at least the past couple of years.

The new Hopper S223 software went out to dish employees, I wonder if it has the final OTA support software in it and they just are not telling us yet until release day?

You know what? At the end of a long day, if Dish cannot supply OTA then I will remain with my 722. After several months of sitting back letting everyone kill each over the Hopper
and the software errors and the poor installations, I sit happy with things just the way they are.
I will wait another year if necessary while Dish irons out all the bugs

I received S223 on one of my Hoppers. The other Hopper is still at S222. No change in Joey software. I don't see any changes that are noticeable. My Sling is working , but we will have to see.

Remember, forums show more horror than positive. I was one of the first installs. It went well. There were some bugs on one iteration of code, but they were all fixed. I am very glad I moved from the 722K's to Hopper/Joey. PTAT alone is worth it. I have sampled many new shows this year because of that feature alone.

The "coming", "soon", etc is getting old. Either Dish is putting this thing out (and should provide a date estimate - seriously, what does it hurt to do so?) or it is vaporware.

Enough is enough already. Either put it out, put out a planned release date, or say it isn't coming. The word games provide no benefit for anyone.
