I am not to sure about that. Both the Wings and Stars have a tough road ahead of them over the next week. Wings need to go through 5 games in 8 days and they play some pretty tough teams within that timeframe.

Only game left that could be considered easy for any of the teams is the Nashville game but you never know what could happen.

Take a look and see just how far off the Wins counts are when you add the Individual players shoot outs to the win tally ....
Thats the problem with the SO, it's not a TEAM thing, it's a Me, I'm better than you type thing ....
Ironically, thats the same reason I quit watching NBA 20+ years ago, when teams quit playing as a team.
Despite their horrible start of the season with that dreaded Stanley Cup hangover, the Kings have made the playoffs! (OK, KCK, you can exhale now...) GO KINGS, GO!!!!
They say never go to bed angry...well, I did last night. In the game where the Wings outplayed the Canucks on their home ice, it was like being punched in the gut watching them lose in SO. We need to play with controlled desperation if we're going to take the #8 spot.
Anyone know if the top seed in the East had been claimed yet? ......

The Penguins have the top seed in the East. They are 15 points in the lead and with the closets team only able to gain 6 points.
I wouldn't worry about jockeying for position...just get in. After all 8th place in the West didn't turn out to be such a bad place last year, did it?
What will be VERY interesting to see the Post Season is how the two top seeds in each conference will fair out as play goes along. Pittsburgh and Chicago seem to be in incredibly good form right now but come April 30th anything goes.
While the original question was rhetorical, I have to wonder where you got those numbers from. Pens have a 9 point lead on Boston and Montreal with neither of them able to gain more than 8 points.

I am more concerned about getting in but it its nice to have one more team falling down the list to help the cause.

I missed Boston and must have stopped at the Capitals. Forgot that they have the top 3 as division leaders.
