i called today to add the showtime/starz 2 for 1 special and the csr asked if there was anything else i needed. i mentioned a ST discount and she offered me $25 off. obviously i passed on that one

I called today and was offered Sunday Ticket for free for being a loyal customer. I immediately said sure. While she was adding it I asked what I would be charged for ST Max if I wanted to upgrade. She put me on hold and came back and said she would upgrade me for free. She also gave me Starz and Showtime free for 6 months and some discounts off my subscription charges.
I think I lucked out and got the perfect CSR.

Hmmm, wonder if anyone else that has previously had ST can call in and get it for free ?
I think alot has to do with how often they give you discounts and your track record of paying your bills and time you have been with them.
Holy crap!! Awesome deal! I wish they'd do this for more people! I hear it everyday how mad people are because they can't get it any cheaper and they've had the ticket for 10+ years
Yeah I think so too. I specifically only ask every year before football season to try to get something fir ST. It has worked every time as I have gotten it for free or paid less then half. But I also have a $200+ bill every month as well. .
No I didnt talk to retention this year. I have in the past but I just went through a normal CSR this year.
Two weeks ago, I called and asked to cancel Sunday Ticket for this season. The CSR said OK and didn't even ask why I was canceling it. That seems to be the norm with me. I never get offered anything, nor do they ever try to get me to keep programming I'm canceling. It's always "I would like to cancel such and such". "OK. Is there anything else I can help you with"? "No". "OK, have a nice day".

Guys, please make sure that when you call to try something like that, that you are actually ready to Cancel, incase they dont offer you anything.

Here's my history about ST discounts:
- I'm an Autopay customer with Premier.
- No bill-paying issues over the years.
- I usually have only 1, oaccasionally 2 "credits" on my acct before calling annually in August for a ST discount. The reason for that is that I want a fairly clear "credit" runway so that I'll be almost certain to receive the annual ST discount since that's the pkg that's the most expensive in the sports pkgs and I'm a ST fan.
I usually call in August. I state "cancel" at the auto-menu but when I get a "Retentions" agent, I don't tell the agent that I want to cancel ST. That's only used to get to Retentions.
I've always received some kind of a discount for ST. It usually averages between 50-65% off the list price. I'm not a "max" or "To Go" customer though. I'm only interested in the basic ST pkg.
Last year, I got the "free for a 1-yr contract extension" deal. That was an easy call for me since contracts with D* aren't an issue since I know I'm not going to be switching providers as long as D* carries the ST pkg.
Sometimes I'll have to "haggle" or play the "roulette" game but the way I see this, is that it's an annual phone call and, as with last year's free ST deal, that's a minor inconvenience to get ST free or at least at a 50%-off price.
I ordered ST a few months back when it 1st became available. I have only had service for just over 1 year.

I've been hearing about people calling in for discounts and whatever else and a lot of people are getting it for free, or at the very least, a very discounted rate.
I called tonight to cancel ST. Was offered half price, declined and asked for Redzone only which is a retention offer for canceling ST subs. She had a hard time finding it but eventually found it and added it. I work about 1/3 Sundays and just didn't feel I was getting $150 worth of enjoyment, and I cant afford it right now anyhow.
I got Sunday Ticket Max for 6 payments on 22.89!! whooooooooooooo!!
