AAD - Is Out of Business

I don't think the RV Park would be happy with loosing a tree. Since it is not on my lot, I can't even trim it.
The more expensive antenna made no difference. I tried it and the old antenna, with and without an amp, and there was no significant difference.
After reading all the other posts, I suspect the problem is that my VIP 612 DVR can not keep up with an uncompressed HD signal. No problem when using the tv's tuner. When reviewing my portable hard drive, I have noticed that a 1 hour program off the air is about twice the size of a 1 hour program off DISH.

Your tv probably has a newer tuner, that deals better with multipath interference, than the 722's now very very old tuner. The 722 tuner has no problems with the higher data of an over the air signal.

My typo. Should have been VIP612 which is even older. I wonder if the USB? tuner for the 211 series would work on the 612 and be any better?

We have received more emails and PM's from people being told that we are buying AAD, again this is NOT true.

We are a satellite forum, not a satellite company.

I am shocked by the amount of people who have been told this...

Mr. Greczkowski come on just give us our distant nets (kidding). I find this whole situation amusing but I bet it's not funny.

Maybe there's a Long arm involved? ;)

I'd guess some speculation or joke got on the open Internet and Google is spreading the word.

How valid? Who knows.

Nick Russel with the Gypsy Journal is reporting the following:

I just had a call back from somebody at Dish media relations (as opposed to customer relations), calling me back as the Gypsy Journal RV newspaper as opposed to as a Dish customer. According to Cindy and her supervisor, Bob, Dish is in negotiation with a new company to provide DNS service. They could not give me an estimate as to when that will happen, if it does happen, but Bob said it is a priority because they are already losing customers.

He edited that post to indicate:

"We are in negotiations with several companies to provide DNS service to qualifying Dish customers."

My 612 handles OTA fine. Yes, the recordings are longer because Dish compresses the signal more. Your local is NOT broadcasting uncompressed, it's just not as compressed as Dish (or Direct or cable)

I sure hope another company takes over. I am changing outdoor antennas at my Winter Texas location Sunday to try to get a stronger OTA signal. While only about 35 miles from the towers, I have a tree that is starting to leaf and it is right in my line of sight to the towers for all 4 network stations. Dead of winter, the signal was ok.

Food food thought and remembrance.

It appears anyone doing this is forced out of business by the big boys.

OTA is in MPEG-2. Much of Dish is in MPEG-4, which is about twice as efficient as MPEG-2. Hence, the size difference, in part. Of course, either can be further compressed to share bandwidth. And some of Dish is still MPEG-2.

Apparently a dead link 404 NOT FOUND

This is basically the only response you will get from Dish right now.

"Customers interested in local network channels can use an over-the-air antenna solution. There is not an option any longer for Distant Networks."

This is my understanding as well

If you are a Dish Customer go to your account and look for support. When in support go to forums. Click on programming support and then look for
Distant Networks for RV. May as well make some noise there also because it is pretty DEAD!

This is the link but it may not work if you are not signed in!

Matt from Dish is responding to a question asking about another provider. As he states Dish can provide locals in a specific area if you call. But nothing about distance being offered

Dish is going straight downhill after this, they are never going to provide distant network again. I been in touch with customer service about this issue 24/7, if they really cared about their customers they would have done something before the closing date. I say in a matter of time that dish will be filing for bankruptcy.

So who has been attacked by a Directv sales man at a walmart?
