DISH 2016 CES Press Event

A number of pages back someone asked about the HDMI output resolutions available (ie 480/720/1080i/4K). We know if you are watching 4K content that the H3 is going to output that resolution. But what about when watching normal available content? Previous VIP and Hopper outputs were limited to a high of 1080i, Is this the same with the H3 or is there an option for 1080P or Upscaled to 2160 (4K) ? Hopefully I explained it OK ;).
Gerry
It does not upconvert the video, the upconversion can be done by your television, and depending on your TV would be much better then any satellite receiver could do. :)

Any word on new Hopper3 compatible Internet Connectors? I'm using 3 HIC's to bridge my internet to 2 rooms in my house over the Dish coax.

I (and the wife :) ) would really hate to lose that connectivity. (Yes, I know this use isn't officially supported, but it works for us...)
Yes works fine with the HIC. :)

Ok nobody seems to be able to answer if we will be able to upload all the crap from all of our remote controls. I have 3 of them that need to be combined and organized.
Before installing your H3 you do a backup of your Hopper on one of the remotes, this copies your timers and settings from that Hopper, when you get the new H3 you restore from that remote.

Has anyone seen or heard anything from Dish about the max number of timers or if the H3 can support more than one sling connection at a time?

Still only one connection to the Sling at a time, any more than that and they have a copyright issue. :)

Have you seen any Wally specs? I think Vivek mentioned in your interview that it could also stream and takes an EHD like a 211. I wonder if it can also stream from home media. Too bad it only has 1 sat tuner, or it would be a good candidate to replace my 612's.

I do not believe it will stream home media, but I will ask him when I see him in a few hours. :)

With 2 HWS and 2 Joeys I hate to watch anything on a TV attached to a Joey. The Joey response to its remote is so slow that it's a real pain skipping commercials. Unless there's a Joey improvement I haven't seen here, switching to 1 H3 and 3 Joeys doesn't seem like an improvement, even with 16 tuners. Did I miss something?

There are actually 2 Joeys out there now, the original Joey and the 2.0. Yes the original Joey is slow but the 2.0 has a much faster CPU. I have heard rumors (not confirmed) that those getting a H3 will have their joeys upgraded to the 2.0 Joey as well. (Again UNCONFIRMED)

I know the feeling. I've found a Wireless Joey is a bit faster than the original Joey, but I'm thinking an upgrade to a 4K Joey might be in order, even if you don't have a 4K TV in that location. I'd bet it has a much faster processor than the Original Joeys and probably even the Joey 2.0.

Assuming I was to look at upgrading to an H3 and joey, coming from 2- 722Ks with a 1000.4 EA dish and DPP44 switch. It looks to me like a total replacement end to end? The dish would have to be replaced with a 1000.2 w/DPH and then to a solo node(?) feeding the H3 and Joey?

Correct, except you'd get a solo HUB, not a solo node. New Hybrid setup replaced nodes with hubs.

Yes pretty much, If you don't have a DISH 1000.2 it would be swapped with a new dish and a new Hybrid LNB. There are no more nodes but the Hybrid LNB uses a small hub which looks like a cable splitter. One line would go to your H3 and the other line goes to your MoCa network serving all of your Joeys.

I already have an owned Joey, do i understand correctly I could have the H3 installed, give up my dual HWS's, and use the Joey in the bedroom to access the H3?

Ok I'm not going to complain they are finally doing what they should have done in the beginning. But this is not going to fun however I learned when moved from the 722 to the hopper just take pictures of the timers and program them only problem is some things are not on right now and I count on the hopper just to auto record these and they just show up magically when they come back. It's not like I subscribe to the TV guide lol.
