What are you guys using to get NASA 4K?

PC with card
STB

What TV models?

I'm wanting to try it out :)

Thanks for your feedback.

The Me with the help of Kodi plays them. See my post at Gofast . I havn't been able to get the Nasa channel to play yet though. The channels on 101 and 103 play just fine.

TBS 6903, EBS Pro, and PotPlayer, but I do not have a UHD display, only 1080. Looks great though...

With me 4K will be like it was with 480 to 1080. I had a 50" Hatachi projection TV that (IIRC) I paid $2200 for back in 1998 that finally took a dump last winter. I replaced that one with a 55" Sceptre 1080p from Walmart for $395 IIRC. I tend to use up what I have before I buy anything else. Hopefully by the time this Sceptre takes a dump the 4K TVs will be MUCH cheaper than they are now. But on the other hand, I'm 71 now and the way my health has been going down hill this year this Septre just might outlive me! :imshocked

I'm happy without 4k...until I start 'missing out' on good programming.

I'd have to wear my glasses to see the difference anyway.

If you have a 4k receiver but the tv is NOT 4k, does it down convert and still play?

4K UHD is uplinked in h.265. Unless the receiver is capable of h.265, you will only hear the audio and it usually shows up as a radio service. A DVBS2 h.264 receiver does not recognize the video PIDs as compatible and logs the service with audio pids only (Radio). Some h.265 STBs only receive up to 1920x1080p resolution services and output up to 1920x1080p video, while other STBs can recceive up to 3840x2160p and output up to 3840x2160p (down convert to 480/720/1080). Read the STB specifications carefully as your mileage can vary between STBs!

Is there any actual 4K UHD 24/7 (non feed) content that isn't looped video? I figure let everything shake out and not worry about upgrading until there is actual valuable missed content.

I have watched several backhauls in 4K and occasionally browse the 24/7 services. I feel that it is still early in the transition to put much effort and money into viewing 4K, but several UHD DVBS/S2 STBs are now coming to market that are competitively priced with the HD models.

Unless you have the need or desire to be a trailblazer, wait a few more months to see how these new products, perform, mature and are supported.

I second that. Yes, in my case using Potplayer.....

TBS6983 / GTX970 or the K1+ STB

My first 4K TV failed (Samsung 8500 SUHD), so waiting to replace with superbowl sales as the price keeps dropping the longer I wait!
Experimenting with TBS6903 / GTX950, 32GB memory and 8 core AMD proccessor

How are you able to watch channels in a mux using EBS Pro and Potplayer? There is an option in VLC that displays mux channels. Where are the settings on potplayer?

I just open the stream EBSPro sends to local port 127.0.0.1:7000. VLC doesn't seem to handle the H265 streams well, it just breaks up and stops working. You can set it up in EBSPro to automatically open potplayer when you scan a TP and select a channel, or right-click and choose. In Potplayer, go to file, options, integration, and add your player(s) of your choice. There is a setup screen to change port numbers etc, and there is an option for automatically setting up players. VLC works fine for regular HD and of course SD...

Maybe, I confused you with my question. I'm able to play channels using EBSPro with Potplayer, but if there is more than one channel in a MUX, I have no idea as to how to play each channel on potplayer.

Here I don't have a computer that is capable of playing 4k content. Anything else with the help of Kodi will play just fine. It does a better job than vlc. Kodi installed on the 4k tv plays the 4k feeds great though. Especially since I have no 4k receiver yet.

PC card TBS 6522 10 foot Winegard Pinnacle. PC has intel i7 with a GTX1080 GPU. LG B6P 65 inch OLED 4K TV. Using DVB Dream software. NASA UHD plays fine at
