Two Hopper 3 Install is Scheduled

I did not. There's a good chance that when the installer arrives tomorrow morning he is going to have a second dish and no DPH42 switch. That is what the person I talked to at Dish thought. If so, that's fine. I don't have a need to access one H3 from the other one. If I see a need I'll purchase the switch after the install and swap it out myself down the road. I had such a run around from Dish and from two local installers that I just want to get the two H3's in and activated.

Even with two dishes, your Hopper's and Joey's should all see each other as long as their is a MOCA, WiFI or Ethernet connection between them.

Please let us know if they use the DPH42. As of today, it looks like dish is deploying the DPH42 for its other uses. But are still saying two dishes for two Hopper 3 installs.

I called DISH President office and went over the work order for my install. The DPH42 switch is on the work order. You might want to do the same and make sure your work order is exactly what you want. Have you read this thread? http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/dph42-now-available.369819/

I called the President's Office today at 3:30 eastern and again was told it requires two dishes and they don't even know anything about the DPH42 for two Hopper 3's. I also PM'd Matt immediately after he created that thread. He said, they are officially deploying the DPH42, but not for using two Hopper 3's.

Are you on Western Arc and want the International 118.7 satellite?

No. The only locations I point at are 61.5 and 72.
If that is all you are pointing at and you get all the channels you want, it appears to me all you need is a Hybrid Duo Hub and two H3s. But, I am only familiar with the Western Arc. Someone else maybe can help you.

Charles, do you know if the Hopper 3's are going to be able to "see" each other. I.E can H3-A see H3-B's recordings and vice versa?
If so, I might look into getting another one and putting the DPH42 in myself.
If you don't know yet, be sure and let us know.

I am almost positive that my two Hopper 3s will be able to see each other. Will let you know for sure after my install.

They will be ethernet connected but I'm not sure what benefit I'd gain from them 'seeing' each other if they can't play each other's content. As I understand it that's the main benefit of the DPH42. Of course, much of what I think I understand turns out to be wrong. Having Dish service for 21 years certainly doesn't mean I understand how it works. Kind of like having married for over 30 years, but that's a story for another time.

I'll report back on the installation tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure you will be able to play content stored on each other Hopper just as the Joey's can.

Yes Bob they can see each other and play each other's recordings, etc. They don't share thru the switch though. The sharing is done by connecting the MoCA ports on the single hubs or a dual hub should work like Charles is going to use. I've never used a dual hub with 2 H3's so I don't know for sure but I do know that connecting the MoCA of the single hubs does work. :)

That's interesting, I've never had a Joey. If that's the case I guess I don't see the benefit of the DPH42, other than not having another pie plate sitting on my roof.

The DPH42 is so that all 32 tuners will work.

Does this wiring diagram open for everyone?

These diagrams are more relevant to my situation:
