Q. IF the ground cannot cause a fumble, how can it cause an incomplete pass ?
They even said, the ball CAN touch the ground and still be a catch ....

Both teams stood around .... the play was to clock it, its obvious when none of the steelers line fired off the ball ... the fact that there were a bunch of Pats standing in the endzone was dumb luck on thier part as it was down at the goalline so they couldn't be anywhere else.He was going to the ground to make the catch, he was never a runner, as he didn't complete the catch.
The NFL explanation is a semantic complaint. Ben completed a pass to his WR, as defined as someone throwing an catching the ball. He was falling to the ground though, so for it to be a completion he had to survive the ground, which they ruled he did not as evidenced by maybe some fingers under the ball and it contacting the ground.
It's too bad only one WR bothered to run a route on the play that resulted in the INT. Naturally the Pats were the most prepared team on the field, while Steelers stood around.

I'm gonna say this, because its entirely true ....
Had the roles been reversed and Jone was Gronk and it was the Pats scoring at the end, it would have been called a catch .....
Not a DOUBT IN MY MIND.
Wrong again ...The play wasn't to clock it, a different play was called in from the sideline, Ben yelled clock a few times, only 1 WR ran their route and Ben forced it instead of throwing it over their head. Game over.
Wrong again ...
Ben yelled Clock, Clock, Clock .... so the team went no where ... Ben was told to NOT Clock it from idiot Haley upstairs.
Because Ben was told to Not Clock it at the last second, everything looked half assed.
Nope.
He leaves his feet to make the catch, he loses control coming to the ground. He should have focused on the catch. It's the equivalent of taking your eyes off the ball and dropping it.
Yes, he left his feet, went up to catch the ball and CLEARLY has both feet back on the ground and control of the ball ... its right there in your 1st picture . AND in the 1st picture he MAY be over the goal line even there.
Yes, the ball can touch the ground during a catch, as long as you have control of it. He doesn't though.

Not down, he's still coming to the ground from the catch, the catch is not yet complete:

Left hand above the ball, right hand somewhat under it, means he lost control, and it is touching the ground:

Incomplete pass.
We're saying the same thing, you're just trying to save face. Pats were ready though, not just milling around.
Luck is on the side of those who are prepared. Pats are better coached than anybody else.Pats got lucky and they KNOW it ...
Steelers with or without Brown will beat them in the Playoffs .... IF the Pats make it.
That one wrong call gave the Pats a bye more than likely.
Belichek is only as good as the STAR players hes given.Luck is on the side of those who are prepared. Pats are better coached than anybody else.

He did absolutely AWESOME when he was in Cleveland, didn't he ...
Not really ....Can say the same about pretty much every QB and coach in the league.
