Yes, I figured MC would naturally have something comparable to ST's H&H.

I just hope that in the changeover DIRECTV will permanently place "SoS" on 101°W where it belongs. And not stick it out on 119°W like H&H, which makes no sense at all ...
Ya, you' d think that they would have ALL the Music channels in the same spot.

I read somewhere about how it makes more sense to just squeeze the music channels where they fit with other channels with the current bandwidth than to devote a certain transponder or however it works to just the music channels like cable. It would make sense to maximize bandwidth, as long as you kept the music channels where everyone could see them on the 99, 101, or 103 satellites.
What DOESN'T make sense is to scatter them beyond that. The Holidays & Happenings channel isn't the only one on the 119 satellite, either. There are several.

I received a "message" that Music Choice is on this morning. I scanned a few channels and noticed that the audio volume is much lower than regular TV channels. I use the red and white analog out jacks on my HR44 to a conventional 2 channel receiver. I sure would not want to switch back to a news or weather channel and blast my speakers.
I am hard to satisfy with most of these satellite or internet music channels anyways. I have a lifetime collection of vinyl records and audiophile equipment to play a wide variety of truly favorite music.

The Music Choice channels on DirecTV are indeed a lower volume then the rest of the channels, and some of the MC channels are louder then others. Toggling between Music Choice on cable and Music Choice on DirecTV is a night and day difference. On cable, they are louder, more even volume, better stereo separation and much better matrixing/pro logic effect or whatever you want to call it from the rear channels. I have both my cable box and DirecTV box connected to an A/V Receiver via HDMI, with no difference in settings between the two inputs on a 7.1 setup. Kind of reminds me when DirecTV first switched from Music Choice to XM. Same thing, the volume levels on the XM channels were all over the place, but typically lower then normal channels.

From what I can tell in the limited playing around I've done, all of the MC channels that are on both cable and DirecTV and not in sync. There usually about a 1 song difference in either direction. Some times cable is ahead by a song, some times D* is ahead by a song.

I wouldn't think so. They didn't have them before and they don't have them on launch day, so probably not. Since the album info is more of an integrated part of the receiver, there's not much need for it. I do however think the artist facts and did you know stuff is pretty cool.

Well if I recall back in the DirecTV/USSB days (late 1990's and early 2000's) when DirecTV had MusicChoice I believe they had the graphics.

If I were MusicChoice I would require that the graphics be available. lol

When I had DirecTV the first go around in the early 2000s, I had a couple Original and Series 2 DirecTiVos. None of them showed the graphics. In seeing the Music Choice channels at other peoples houses during that time frame who had different boxes, I can't recall ever seeing the graphics like cable has. Not saying that wasn't the case, just that I never saw them.

I think they got rid of the graphics by the time the Directivos came along. I had them on a regular RCA brand box. They were made possible by an interactive co. called WINK, which also included things like sports scores and shopping from your box. I remember RCA had to send me a new box because mine would never accept the download. Directv dumped the contract with WINK and the graphics disappeared, and when the MC contract ran out they were replaced by XM.

Random side note. Do we really need year round XMAS music?

Yes ?

Did direct add the year round All Xmas channel. Usually it is a digital exclusive on the music choice website and mobile app only.

Sounds of the Seasons rotates music year round depending on the current holiday. Love songs for Valentines, patriotic for Independence Day etc..

Well, sometimes I listen to Holiday Traditions on SiriusXM, even when it's not Christmastime. Same goes for when Holly was SiriusXM's year round Christmas station. I guess I have a festive mood all year.
