This sometimes happens. Try downloading software and it should rebuild guide data.
Reset Genie, as soon as you see a blue light press 0,2,4,6,8,0,2,4,6,8. Software should download. If it continues to load up hit red reset button and try again.
I've found also this happens when dish needs to be repeaked.

You could also save yourself that trouble and do a clearmybox

Everytime I get a service call with this exact symptoms it seems to fix itself before I get there. And almost always I have to repeak the dish or change the lnb to pass the IV test due to a transponder failure. You might have to get a service call scheduled.

Also the instructions you posted don’t work on updating the software on a HS17

Only do the sequence 0 2 4 6 8 once. If there is new software in the system it will download. That's usually only from 11PM to 3AM on Saturday night/Sunday morning ET. Any other time you will get the national release.

Another note about the 02468 - that is for edge cutting software. If you do not have the "IAMANEDGECUTTER" command on your receiver enabled, it can cause things to not work properly. Only download software if you are a part of the CE program.

Actually, the "02468" command has little to directly do with the CE program as the command, when run, simply pulls whatever firmware happens to be in the stream at the time it is run---NR, CE, or otherwise (and, yes, there have been a few "otherwises"). DIRECTV technicians have been using the "02468" command for years (decades?) as a means to update just-installed receivers/DVRs to the current in-stream firmware after each installation of the same. Yes, if the command is run at a time when CE firmware is in the stream, it will pull that particular firmware, but the command itself is most definitely not relegated solely to the retrieval of "edge cutting software" [sic].

Additionally, the "IAMANEDGECUTTER" search (not "command"), has little, if anything, to do with the actual functionality of the CE firmware on a particular receiver/DVR, it merely enables additional reporting tools.

9 1/2 years to make your first post? ;)
:welcome to Satelliteguys RaiderPower!

When I deem it important enough, I'm not afraid to make the contribution. ;)
You picked a hell of a time to chime in ....

The 1st paragraph you typed is correct, the code isn't specifically for CE software, but it is the code to GET the CE software ... in the correct tie frame.

Your second paragraph is incorrect ...
The Iamanadgecutter search has Everything to do with the CE program as it takes you to different servers from what is normally used.

Fwiw, none of these posts have anything to do with the Thread starters issue ...

My second paragraph, as worded, is correct.
it is not 100% correct as it does more than enable reporting tools.. As Jimbo stated it points the box to different servers for Guide Data and such.. Otherwise as most in the CE program have experienced, if it is not enabled when running a CE most content wont load i.e On Demand, Full Search, Network Apps and HD Assets/Channel Logos
