Receivers left from tenants

You miss a lot. I've read several reports of people moving into places where previous tenants had stiffed Directv and couldn't get service because of it.

I have never heard of that.

I know Comcast does it, but there is a procedure to unblock and address by showing proof of residency. Basically you need to prove you are not associated with the previous tenant or owner

So, if I move into my brothers old house, who had issues with D*, but I'm fine with I could not get service because of my brothers relationship with them ?

I would think running the credit check has more to do than anything else?

High Dosage Antipsychotic Drug therapy? I don’t know how that will spin up an HDD, but I’ll give it a try
Unless things have changed (how many drives CAN you stuff in a HTPC??.....that's "Home Theater PC" .....anyway).
Those drives in dvr's put in a pc will not be usable until you use a software utility to change the Power Up In Standby....or PUIS "switch" in the drive controller.
I'm guessing it's set from the factory to keep the drive from spinning all of the time making heat and using un-needed power.

HaHa. I’m reasonably funning about the HDAT. Acronym vapor lock!

It does happen. Some tv providers and utilities do flag properties because of previous tenants relationship with them.

You should return them to DirecTV. Otherwise your address might be in bad standing with DirecTV and you won't be able to get service there in the future until you pay off all fees.
Wouldn't that be illegal. I mean that's like Comcast telling you that you can't get service at an address that other people owe!!!

I had that happen years ago when I tried to get the power company to disconnect the lines serving an old RV campsite on my recently purchased property. The power folks said the individual that ordered the service and still owed them money had to pay up and cancel the service before they could disconnect the lines at their pole. I had to call in a favor from a friend that knew a safety officer at the power company to have the lines declared a hazard so they could cut them. Until that was done, I couldn't get power lines run where I needed them for the house I was building.

Spectrum tried telling me that I had to pay the last tenants bill before they would connect me. I told em that was illegal they didn't care. A call from my lawyer cleared that up real fast
