Can someone help identify this 10-ft dish?

Yesterday, together with a fellow SatGuys member, we rescued a 10-ft C-Band dish. It looks like it's quite a bit older than my Winegard. The mount is quite rusted. The ribs and mesh panels are in good condition. The holes in the mesh seem a bit larger than on my Winegard, so might not work well on Ku. It came with a Chaparal Polarotor and what appears to be a small Norsat LNB

Any idea as to what manufacturer/model that would be?

That's an odd one to me you have there.

I have seen reflectors very similar to that one (numerous radial ribs/buttonhook) but never seen a polar mount that was quite like that, with that big cast piece and the way you set the declination.

Looks to be a pretty shallow dish? Should perform well if the parabola is true and you can get it dialed in.

I have not measured the depth but yes I agree it looks a bit shallow

Looks similar to an old buttonhook dish I still need to rescue. Not sure of the manufacturer but I did notice the mesh holes were a bit bigger than my Odom and SAMI BUDs.

I went and took pictures of the dish I thought matched yours. Here is a close up on the mesh. This look right?
I'll check tomorrow. I'll take a close up picture

As far as the structure of the dish itself, it has (I think) 18 ribs, and the rim (in 6 sections) is attached to the end of the ribs with machine screws. The mesh is applied to the ribs and the ribs are then covered with a thin strip of flat aluminum and bolted through the ribs with 1/4"-20 bolts. The central hub is made of 2 rounds metal plates with lots og holes - one big one in the middle for the buttonhook, and 2 1/4" holes per rib.

Definitely not as well engineered as my Winegard Quadstar

This one is 4 panels, and the mesh is just screwed down with regular sheet metal screws. Pretty crude workmanship compared to my SAMI and Odom. But I am interested in a buttonhook. Never played with one.

From the ribs it look like a Obritron but from the mount I am not sure.. what you need to do is get a bucket and some salt and some white vinegar let the rusted parts sit over night and light scrub them the next day, and it will look like new.

I soaked my moving parts in a 50/50 mix of acetone and automatic transmission fluid. Look it up - the best penetrating oil ever.
Those that were too big to fit in a container were brushed liberally with the mix. It works so good and so fast.
So tell us what happen were you able to get the dish cleaned? Any pictures?

I was referring to the mount's moving parts getting loosened up with penetrating oil. The Unimesh dish mount hadn't moved in 25 years and all moving parts were seized.

The dish itself just needed some soapy water and a deck brush to get it cleaned up. All the bolts holding the panels together all needed to be replaced with stainless, so whether I cut them off or snapped the bolts, I wasn't reusing them.

Ok sounds like you have a little work ahead you..

This stuff works great during assembly.
