CJ.Stroud had never thrown a pass in college till last night ...
He played mop up duty in a few series last year.

I thought he did very well considering your opening on the road, in the rain ... he over threw some throws, but he'll be better next week.
Most of the Defense is also 1st or 2nd year guys, which will also get better with time.

Stroud played Much better in the 2nd half once his 1st start jitter were over.

Good weekend of college ball, with some teams coming out dominant and some working through first game jitters.

Bama looked great, but Miami may have been overrated. Young looked like he had been starting for two seasons, not like a first timer. Good protection, good solid Defense.
Speaking of defense, Georgia. Wow. They are strong.

If I were ranking, for right now I’d go
Bama
Georgia
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Clemson.

Might swap the last two, but I went with the win over the loss.

Penn State and Wisconsin's game was an excellent game.

That about as good as they could have hoped for. Im curious if that keeps them in the "P5" now, or will it become P4 and G6.
For as long as the current Playoff and Bowl contracts are good for, they'll still be P5.

A quick check shows that Sugar Bowl and Playoff contract is good til 2026.

It also means that with the Big 12 sticking around, Texas & Choklahoma are tied to that grant of media rights deal til it expires.

Yeah, I was looking up the contract as you typed this.

I still dont see Oklahoma and Texas being in the Big 12 beyond next season, at the most.

I don't either, but with the Big 12 staying alive it's going to cost them a lot of money (something like $75 million each), and their home game broadcast rights will remain under the Big 12's current contract with Fox/Espn.

Great, but paywalled, journalism from the Gannett owned Bergen Record.

Did a FOIA on Rutgers. Rutgers athletics owes a total of $265M including bonds to build new athletic buildings, and $48M in borrowing from the Big 10 and $48M from the general university funds. It lost $73M in 2020 and since leaving the mid-major “Big East” for the Big 10, has seen as 38% drop in ticket sales. All in all expenses in the Big 10 are 62% higher.

Rutgers had been cooking the books for years to perpetrate the common myth that its sports programs are “self-sustaining” which is only true at about 25 schools.

Gov of NJ says the situation is ‘unsustainable”. Rutgers also denied having a copy of its own contract with the Big 10, saying the only copy is in the possession of the (not subject to FOIA) Big 10 office.

I suspect the situation is about the same at a whole lot more places.
