I would have probably stayed away from Intel, but looks pretty good regardless. 8ghz, wow.

I got so burnt on my last build (5800x, RTX 3090), airflow w/ the 3090 was a nightmare and even once I went to a water cooled 4090 (and yolo'd a 5950x upgrade too... because.. uh.. I might stream so extra threads??) I still had issues. Turned out an AIO I had on my CPU was somehow overheating and triggering a shutdown. After all this I'm not sure I'll build a high end PC again, almost want that reassurance of a pre-build, so I have someone else to blame for doing it poorly.

Really need to cobble some parts together so the kids have a low-end PC for productivity / light gaming (son has been using my Steam Deck, everyone else sticks to their consoles). A project for the summer... which will be here in a couple months I suppose. Blah.

How much did you spend on this?
I'm itching to do a new build, myself

That's about what I spent on my last one and would figure to spend again on a new one.
Killer system there

after running it for a while i wanted performance and not to dated like on some of the budget builds
I get that, but you've got some elements in there like the 4TB m.2 drive that are wicked expensive, and I'm having a hard time imagining why you need that large of a high-speed drive.

In the grand scheme, Microsoft usually figures out a way to hobble even the most insane hardware (this has been a problem on both the Intel and AMD side).

did you ever get the new build going yet???
No, I'm updating, instead. The motherboard, Case, and power supply are all great. I updated my RAM from 32GB of DDR4 2166 to 64GB DDR4 3600 and moved my Windows to a new 2TB M.2 drive and my Archlinux to a new 1TB M.2 Drive.
Next update will be moving from a 3060TI to a 4080 GPU.

If I ever feel like I need to move to DDR5 RAM, I'll invest in a new board but I'm solid right now and the GPU upgrade will be a big step.

I'm a bit leery of Nvidia high end GPU's. I keep updated on Nortwest Repair, Northridge Fix, and a few others on YouTube. All the same. Fried power connectors. Tendency to crack where the main board connector latch is on them.
A bit scary. Companies ditching warranties and just reflowing the core when they do honor them. Power connector repair denied due to claims of incorrect PSU plug connection.
But man! Talk about keeping up with the Joneses! You really get immersed in games.
As for "dirt cheap". After seeing a few clips showing too good to believe Nvidia 40XX and 50XX GPU's with missing cores and ram. Or fake ram swapped out. Scary.
At the least go for a Square Trade plan.
I'm a longtime Asus fan for pc builds. But as of late they scare me. Laptops, GPU's and mainboard failures.
Not being negative. Just aware. Very aware!

You have to be very careful on counterfeit GPU's. Amazon, New Egg, etc are flooded with them

as far as the M.2 drive i do alot of video rendering in 4k!!! i would not last with a 1 or 2 TB drive LOL. gen 5 drives are amazing for video rendering and it helps while gaming belive it or not!!! since the speed depends on there servers the bandwith there sending you... i have more than one game downloaded to me pc plus alot of viseos to edit.. what do you mean by hobble??? slow the system down??? thats microsofts updates. i wipe my pc every 1-2 years to make it speedy again. going from a gen 4 system to a gen 5 system is like night and day though. most wouldn't need a pc of my spec... another issue is since it's OC so hard it becomes a space heater!!!

what 4080 are you going with asus has monitoring software so it don't burn the house down LOL!!!

Probably highly suggested to install the GPU with case on it's side so plug it in vertically.
And take every precaution to add supports if at all possible.

I'm not sure. The 3060TI is a Zotac. Not really sure where I stand with it. I'll be doing some looking around when the time comes. My GF and I dropped money on a new Glass Top/Convection oven and a bigger refrigerator.
