Right now I'm using a T-90 to pick up ExpressVu and as you know the signals on several transponders are too weak for Southern California. So I think I will switch to Star Choice. Are the Star Choice signals pretty strong down here? Also I think that means I will have to get new LNBs for 107.3W and 111.1W? If so, what are some good ones to consider? Even though I don't have a HDTV yet, I'm thinking of getting one later this year. So I probably will get the Motorola DSR505 receiver which I believe can be upgraded for MPEG4 compression later on if necessary. Are there any other issues I need to consider?

SC will work fine and all you need is a couple regular KU LNB's. You do not need any special ones.

I use a Sadoun .4 single (has to be standard) for 107.3

What kind of switch do I use to combine the outputs from the 107.3W LNBF and the 111.1W LNBF and send it to one receiver (probably a Motorola DSR505)? Could I use a Dish Network SW21 switch(which I happen to have on hand)?

no. You would need a 22k switch to combine them. The 107.3 output would go into the 0k side and 111.1 goes into the 22k side

Sadoun carries them (I use to have one when I had 107.3/111.1) or Ebay

Anik F2 and WaveFrontier T-90

Anik F2 at 111.1W is too close to EchoStar 8/10 at 110.0W, so instead of the T-90 I'm going to use a separate dish for Anik F2. I have a spare DirecTV 30" dish which normally mounts a DBS LNB. Is there an adapter that will allow mounting a regular Ku LNB to this dish?
If not, what dish do you recommend I get?

I'd put the DBS LNB on that one and get 110. Circular polarity doesn't need to be skewed whereas the linear for 111.1 does.

Linear LNBF Polarity setting on a WaveFrontier T-90

I came across a discussion of polarity setting for an Xtreme II 0.3dB Standard Ku LNBF - see http://www.dmsiusa.com/install.htm. I will be using this LNBF for 107.3W and 111.1W on my T-90. Do I need to be concerned with this polarity adjustment? If so, what is it that I adjust and how is it done?

no

the thing with the Xtreme II is the 0 skew is what most of the LNB's I've seen would be around 45 so make sure you see the notch to match it up with 0

pic 2 shows that. For 0 skew the coax is sticking out to the side instead of down

I guess you're not using multi-switches? That lnbf is a single, I don't think Extreme makes a dual. You would want a dual lnbf if you were using multi-switches.

Al

Edit: I didn't realize you're trying for Star Choice, I was thinking of a regular DVB receiver and not a Star Choice receiver....

Please verify for me if I use this single Xtreme II LNBF for 107.W and also for 111.1W and go into a Sadoun S-SM21H 2-way 22KHz multi-switch and then take the single output from the 22KHz multi-switch into a Star Choice DSR505 receiver will it work? I will only be using one receiver for Star Choice.

1) I have been able to use a T90 for SC at 111 and E* at 110 - though not getting an optimal signal on 110W. The SC lnb at 111W needs the sweet spot. Then you have the 110 lnb essentially spoon the lnb and secure it. 110W is much more forgiving - though you will have a noticable drop than if the 111W lnb wasnt blocking part of the feedhorn.

2) Be very careful buying the switches from Sadoun - just know for sure what you want up front. I purchased around $100 of switches from them to connect up my T90 in a way that was posted 90 days ago in the other thread - turns out that doesn't work - and Sadoun will not take any switches back - even though they were never opened as someone else noted it didn't work in the thread.

yes that will work

but if you have 107.3 & 111.1 there isnt enough room to wedge 110 in there :)

he's only using one reciever so a 22k switch will be fine. I know exactly what you're talking about. I originally tried to hook up the 8 LNB's to 4 boxes with a few multiswitches and 4x1 diseqc's. Didnt work :(

Thanks Iceberg and HdTVFanAtic. You've been very helpful. Now I need to go out and buy the hardware, install it and contact my broker. I'll let you know how it all works out here in Temecula, California.

Could somebody elaborate a little on what HDTVFanAtic means by "Then you have the 110 lnb essentially spoon the lnb and secure it"?

DishProPlus44 and WaveFrontier T90

I currently use the Reversed DBS dual LNBFs on my T90 for 119W and 110W. I get 148W on a separate 18" dish with a standard dual LNBF. I feed th 6 coax cables from these 3 LNBFs into a SW64 switch which then feeds 4 receivers (811,301,2-4000).
If I add an LNBF for 129W to my T90 can I replace the SW64 with a DishProPlus44 so that I can receive the 4 satellites?

nope. The Reverse LNB's are Legacy and you cannot mix Legacy & DishPro. You can hook a SW21 on the output of one of the SW64 to get 4 satellites to a reciever

110----SW64 1 (2 lines to the in side)
119----SW64 2
148----SW64 3

output 1----SW21 from 129-------------receiver
