cw network

We have a C band big dish & are thinking of adding a FTA receiver. My wife is very interested in getting the CW channel. Is there an english CW channel available on C band and where would we find it? Thanks

I watch it in HD on another satellite. It's there if you know where to look? If you have a DVB HD receiver, PM me and I'll give you the co-ordinance. It's only up during Primetime programming hours (east & west).

We have a 4DTV receiver. Used to subscribe to a few analog channels & they'd turn on all the digitals for free. No analogs anymore & they charge for the digitals now. I know there are CW channels (feeds) on G11, but don't know about this "manual entry" stuff they talk about. Just looking for a station in the US that has a FTA signal on satellite.

I'm the last one who should be giving advice on C-band, but . . .
...does this list at GlobalCM help a bit more than trying to read Lyngsat?

It doesn't really help me. The "Manual PID Entry Required" is greek to me. As I said, just looking for some U.S. CW station on FTA.

:welcome to the forum

the manual entry means that some units (with blind scan ) miss these channels and you have to manually add them. its not hard to do.

the older c band analog & 4dtv receivers don't scan. The newer DVB units (most of them) will scan for wild feeds and other channels. some are scrambled, some are wild feeds and some are in the clear FTA.

The CW network is on Galaxy 11, 91W. You can find the video & audio pids on Lyngsat. You have to enter these in manually for the channels to work. Once entered it works fine.

with your setup you could easily add a FTA receiver there are a couple of switches needed and a fta receiver .......and use your c band dish to get the channels. The reviews section has several good units listed

I'm an old c bander at heart and like wild feeds and hunting them to me its a good hobby. so if you are like that then a Blind scanning unit is the best way to go. if you are only going to view certain channels then a non blind scanning unit will work. now most newer units have it.

What do you mean by needing switches? From the diagrams I saw that Skyvision provides, it looks like all I have to do is add 2 sets of RCA cables to jump it into and out of my 4DTV receiver & should be good to go.

If your just going to use C band to your FTA receiver you need a hi freq splitter that has power passing only on 1 port. This port goes to your 4DTV, the DC blocked port goes to your FTA. If your using C & KU you need 2 hi freq splitters and a DiSEqC switch. And of course cables.

The cables are co-axual cables, not RCA type cables. The first diagram shows the 4dtv being slaved from the DVB receiver. The second diagram shows how I've done mine, and it works just fine. Remember to get a High Frequency splitter with one port power passthrough, if you go this route. Good Luck!

I've been trying to get those CW stations on G11 entering the pids manually but to no avail. I do have one another sat on C band. I will post it later
