Live Broadcast: ILS will begin the broadcast/webcast about 8:55 p.m. EDT (7/6/2007). DIRECTV customers can view the launch on channel 570.

:D

Great find. I knew Directv would show it!

I want to set up my HR20 to record this but the guide is only showing a multi-hour block of closed circuit programming at the appointed time. And maybe I am just dense, but I can't get my HR20 to manually record. I don't normally use the manual record, so my experience with it is nil. What steps do I need to take to get my box to record the launch? help...

Menu - Help & Settings - Scheduler - Manual - Then pick the channel, time and duration and voila. Manual record.

To record Manually:
Go to List, To Do (yellow button), then down to Manual and fill in the blanks from there.

I see there's more than one way to get there !

Got it working. When I first tried to do it, the menu was only showing me the details of what was in the To DO List. Didn't matter what menu option I selected on the left, the main window stayed the same. Must have just been a temporary hiccup by the system.

Thanks for the help anyways...and here's to a successful launch! :D

Thanks for the info on the televised launch channel!
I'm getting giddy with excitement, only three days to go.:D

I told my wife that the launch was going to be on TV and I was going to watch/record it, she just looked at me like I'm and idiot. Women.

Yeah, my wife just snorted and rolled her eyes. I try to remind her that the expensive monitor in the living room and bedroom need to feed on HD and many of the new channels that will be coming online will benefit her as well. It's not jsut sports and other "man shows", but stuff she likes. Usually shuts her up for a few minutes... ;)

Here's the weather report from the Weather Channel for Baikonur:
10 Day Weather Forecast for Baikonur, Kazakhstan - weather.com

And Sat the 7th. Baikonur calander:
Daily Weather Forecast for Baikonur, Kazakhstan - weather.com

Based on the windspeed in MPH on Friday 6th its 19Mph or 16.5 knots and on Sat. 7th its 14Mph or 12.2 knots.

Obviously this rocket is not necessarily bound to the same rules as NASA, but just from taking a quick look, 20kts appears to be the maximum surface winds (and up to 140kts at 42000) before a launch is scrubbed. So based on the forecasts linked to, is it not reasonable to say that they are still within the safe limits? Does anyone know for sure what the maximum safe winds are for this particular rocket design/payload?
