8 New HD RSN Channels Added 7/11

I would say talk to NESN on that one. If NESN just let them carry the games (like other 24 hour HD RSN's do) then we could be seeing the Sox in HD now on Dish Network.

But since NESN wants them to carry it full time and not just the games there is no room for it at the moment. Dish would rather use the national conus space it has now for national HD programming.

Again our only hope of seeing it this year is if the FCC gives Dish control over Sky Angel's transponders. But I dont see that happening until this fall if not later.

You mean National Programming that they call HD, but is just mostly SD?

I see FSN NW HD is broadcasting the Mariners vs the Tigers in HD on Jul-12, 13, & 15 from Seattle. Wonder why FSN Detroit HD doesn't pick up the HD feed so the FSN Detroit folks can watch the Tigers in HD too?

When the Tigers play the Twins next week in Minnesota, FSN Detroit HD is broadcasting it.

It seems to me if FSN is the broadcast network, then the both market's FSN should carry it in HD as well.

ugh... guess I gotta try to get 129. I've got two dishes, think they can move 61.5 to 129. Is this a bad idea to get Sportstime Ohio and FSN-Ohio? I've heard problems with 129.

Looks like I WON'T be getting my RSNs :(

SportsNet NY is a 24hr HD channel. Their sportsdesk program is done in HD. I guess SNY is allowing E* to only have the channel active during a home game. Both D*, Verizon and Cablevision carry the HD channel full-time at this time. I assume Comcast & Time Warner also carry the HD channel full-time as well.
Comcast does not. Channel 201 in my area is used for the pre-game, the game itself and the post-game and that's it. Hence SNY is allowing Dish to do the same.

Scott, browsing old posts I can see that FSNY and MSG -HD have been uplinked but aren't available. Is that still the case? I know that the a^^%%% Dolans won't allow anything but cable systems to carry them at this time, but I am just wondering...

I didn't believe FSNW would be tuned on for a while. What a nice surprize!

Now I can watch the Mariners (I can get KSTW OTA when the few games are on there) in HD almost all of the time.

Especially with college football right around the corner just makes this news much better!

Now if Tribune will let E* light up our FOX network in HD...

I wonder if getting FSN Bay Area in HD on Dish just got more difficult since it was just purchased by Comcast Sportsnet West.

Still no CSN-Chicago. One of the biggest markets in the US and it's looking to be one of the last RSN's added.

I haven't had Comcast for six years, and they're STILL coming up with reasons for me to hate them.

Signed,

An FSN Bay Area subscriber.

For those that still do not have their HD RSN active, here is a glimmer of hope:

On July 11, DISH Network will launch eight Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) in high definition (HD) that feature game-only baseball content, including Fox Sports Network Arizona (Ch. 365), Fox Sports Network Northwest (Ch. 376), Fox Sports Network Cincinnati (Ch. 377), Fox Sports Network Pittsburgh (Ch. 378), Fox Sports Network Detroit (Ch. 380), SportsTime Ohio (Ch. 381), Fox Sports Network North (Ch. 386), and SportsNet New York (DISH Network Ch. 388). With the launch of nine HD RSNs earlier this year, these new additions bring DISH Network’s total lineup of HD RSNs to 17, with more channel launches planned for Aug. 15.

Hopefully that means more of the remaining RSN's could go live at that time.

It doesn't appear that way. Personally I would trade the 7 new National HD channels that have been announced for my 1 Comcast Sports Net Chicago... not to mention that TBS HD wasn't one of the channels that was announced so the MLB playoffs apparently won't be broadcast in HD. I'm tired of waiting around for Cubs/Bulls games in HD when the other providers have had them for quite some time.

Personally I would trade all 17+ RSN's for more national HD. When are all these programmers going to get it.. We want everything in HD. I can't hardly even watch tv anymore if it is not in HD.. I was P/O'd when Big Brother came on this year and CBS is broadcasting it in SD only.. What about this don't these people get.. The technology is there. The need by us is there. It took me days before I would even go look at the Big Brother that I had DVR'd. And it was pretty hard to actually watch it in SD.. HD has been around now for years. And all the programmers knew it was coming. Why now are they all looking like they got caught with their pants down and having to play catch up.
Yes I am sure those of you that are baseball fans are happy with these new RSN's. But since I don't watch baseball, I don't really care..

DISH, DirecTV, and all the programmers out there.. Get with the program.. We want everything in HD.

Scott- Is FSN-North going to be on 61.5, I can't get 129 because of trees in the way, I coulod barely get 110 and 119 said my installer.

Seriously? I would hope that you are kidding as this has been front page news for the past two days.

Edit: Well, since TRSmudge deleted his post mine no longer makes any sense so please disregard.

nope it will be on 129 since Mpls HD locals are there too :)

Also its only for the Twins/Wolfies/Wild games so you'd be blacked out in Brewers/Bucks territory

As far as TBS goes I don't think they even have a HD Version of their channel up yet. So before any TV Service Provider can offer the channel the network must 1st have it up and running. So we will see once TBS gets things going just like UAS Network and others. :)
