RF to HDTV in second room

He wants this HDTV set because it can be used as PC monitor and TV. It makes sense to be able to watch TV or get on computer in the same room with the same display. RF to HDTV in second room

The particular one that my friend wanted doesn't have NTSC analog, maybe because it is a multiple purpose display: SAMSUNG TOC T260HD Rose Black 25.5" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10000:1(1000:1) Build in TV Tuner & Dolby Digital Surround Sound - Retail

RF to HDTV in second room

That's what he was afraid of. Now that US has cut over to all digital TV, few if any HDTV selling today will include an analog tuner. This means the dish dual tuner TV2 output is becoming useless as is. It's pretty bad.

RF to HDTV in second room

The second room is on second floor, pretty far comparing to those component cables or HDMI cables that I have seen. I don't know if it is feature. I know RG6 can run pretty much throughout the house without a problem, but I am not sure if component or HDMI cables can go that far.

RF to HDTV in second room

He's ok with watching SD on second HDTV for now. His only concern is whether the digital tuner (ATSC/QAM) for the "ANT" input of the new TV can actually tune to the analog channel 73 coming from the VIP722 TV2 output. The new HDTV doesn't have an analog tuner (NTSC).

RF to HDTV in second room

A friend has a Dish VIP722 receiver in living room connecting to the local HDTV via HDMI. There is also a coax cable running from TV2 output to second room where there is an old TV. All work good. Now he wants to upgrade the old TV to HDTV. The HDTV he is looking at does have a coax connector...

    superdish "check"

I seem to remember seeing on the check switch screen a "checkbox" for superdish. Anybody know what that is really doing? Do we need to select the superdish "check" for the newer dishes such as dish 1000+, 500+, etc? Are they considered superdish too?

    dpp44 heat

I am trying to put the switch inside my H336 http://www.openhousesystem.com/product_detail.php?productId=7 and lock the cover. It will look nicer but I am not sure if it will generate too much heat inside the enclosure.

    dpp44 heat

I am thinking of putting an enclosure to protect the dpp44 switch. Does anybody know if the switch generates lots of heat and require good ventilation ?

    dish conversion

well, I thought one could repoint 148 dish 500 to 121, replace the LNB to a fss one, and all should be good. I thought the only reason superdish is bigger is because it needs to point to three dishes, and since we only need 121 one point, a single dish 500 is ok.

    dish conversion

Is it possible to re-point the unused 148 dish 500 (since locals are all now moved to the main dish 500) to the 121 (or mirror 108.7), and replace the LNB, so that one can add the international packages that are available on 121? Is that the easiest/cheapest solution to add the international...

    500 vs 500+

How heavy is 500+ compared to 500? Is it possible to replace an old 500 mounted on roof (well, not really roof, it's screwed on the eaves) with a 500+? Are they about the same weight and size? Can the same mounting be used and just dish/lnb be replaced? I remember I read somewhere that...

    cheap package

I will suggest him staying with comcast anyway. As for the receiver, if he gives it to me, I will definitely check. If he sells it to others, it will be the buyers responsibility I guess.

    temperary subscription

It seems Great Wall requires at least Dish500+. Does anyone know if there is an extra charge for that, with "Free for all" ? http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/programming/international/index2.shtml says ... Take advantage of DISH Network's Internation Free-For-All. In addition to the...

    temperary subscription

One reply mentioned a $49.99 "activation" fee, are there any other hidden costs if you go with "free for all"? Another reply mentioned buying a cheaper receiver from Radio shack. It seems the receiver offered by "free for all" is indeed more expensive than other sources. Does "free for all"...

    cheap package

Wow, 16.99. Looks like dish solution is not always the cheapest. I will ask him just to stay with his comcast $13.99 local package, with unlimited tuners/TVs, and give me his 322 :)

sure thing. I see dish has a "free for all" option: ... You agree to purchase, install and activate either a two-receiver DISH Network DISH 311 or dual tuner DISH Network DISH 322 satellite TV system for $199 or a one-receiver DISH Network DISH 311 satellite TV system for $149 ... I...

    cheap package

A friend moved to a house that already has a dish hookup (dpp twin?) from a previous owner. He recently saw a cheap 322 receiver and bought it from a garage sale. Now he's asking what's the cheapest program he can get from dish. I thought it's the 5.99 local only but want to confirm with you...

a colleague is thinking of getting dish since inlaws are coming. a few questions: 1) can you get with no contract? since inlaws' staying is only 6 months. 2) if you have to have a one-year contract, can you change program after 6 months? eg: from "great wall package" to the AT60 or...

    separator vs. splitter

I understand the first part. For the second part: I need to split the RF output from a receiver to serve two old TVs (barely used). Don't have a splitter handy, and there is an unused separater lying around. Can it be used as a splitter temperarily?

    separator vs. splitter

Separator and splitter look similiar, but I understand you can't use a splitter in place of a separator. But can one use a separator as a splitter to split out the VHF/UHF signals to serve two old TVs?

    Add a receiver

I heard some rumors that San Francisco extra locals will be moved away from the second dish. Is that true? If so, does that mean we are ok "losing" the second dish ?

    Add a receiver

Today I read that dpptwin can be connected to dpp44. Does that mean a dpp44 can be used in the closet?
  25. R

    Add a receiver

All single tuner receivers (I think they are 311s). There is no plan to spend extras to "upgrade" to dual tuners.
