The only way it will stop making the noise is if you unplug it so it will be completely turned off. The noise of the Hd is completely normal so you don't have to worry about it. After a while you should get used to it.

I definitely don't have a complaint with the 625 fan noise. (the only problem with it is the DVR bugs, but thats another story). I am pretty sure all 625's have that same fan noise and doesn't mean it is defective or something. Even when power for both TVs are off, I can still hear a quiet noise...

Yea, for sporting events they automatically extend the end time because of overtime and an actual game never ends exactly at the time. It would totally suck to miss overtime just because the recording stopped early; so I think it's a pretty nice feature but of course you can manually change it...

Yea I have the same problem, but isn't a big problem for me. One movie I recorded, it would have the "glitch" every 10 seconds for a fourth of the movie and then returned to normal. Normally, it only happens occasionally for me.
