Hi Everyone,

Moving in about a week and switching back to DirecTV as part of the move. Getting the whole-house DVR with two HD DVRs and an HD box, and also getting the Cinema Connection Kit. One DVR and connection kit will be very close to the router. I'm guessing 100mbps is adequate for this and I don't need gigabit ethernet, but figured I'd check since I also will be buying a new router as part of this process.

Thanks,

Gary

Although Gigabit isnt needed for this application, why not be future-proof since you are buying your router new? Your overall network will thank you in the long run. Same goes for cable runs; CAT6a is hardly any additional dollars for the upgrade.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm getting a headache reading all the gigabit wireless N router reviews, but I guess I'll persevere and pick one. :)

Your actual Internet speed in your house is no where near that.

Gigabit router won't make any difference.

Its all about overall network throughput and capacity, not solely one's internet speed Johns. Even though those speeds in the home are approaching quickly.
