Week before last I got over to a farm a few miles from here and snagged the 12 foot Unimesh I have had my eye on for a couple of years. Last weekend I got the holes for the piers dug, the concrete poured, and the tripod mounted. Today with the help of as couple of friends got her up and ready to go. Next weekend should be good to aim it and tweak. Hoping to pick up a tasty little 8' mesh this week to place on the post at the west end of the lineup. I like to get everything peaked before freeze up.

Obsessive... Absolutely obsessive... Too many dishes... My wife finally told me no more dishes.. So I took one down, and told her, but put two back up to replace it.. ;>) I'm down to ten or eleven...

Very nice!

I'm assuming a polar mount, what kind of actuator are you going to use on that big rascal?

Yep polar mount, freshened up the hardware as half of the bolts were worn pretty bad. It came with an ancient Ajax with potentiometer feedback. And it works! For now I will use it as a fixed dish (like the rest of them). I may hook this one up to the micro and the gbox in the spring.

Is the AJAK an H-H mount, or a linear actuator on a "standard" polar mount? What is the OD of your pole? Please post a pic of yours sometime if you can.

I put up my 12' Unimesh a couple months ago, put it on a AJAK 180 H-H mount. My AJAK is made for 4 1/2" OD, but the Unimesh linear polar mount that came with the reflector is made to fit 4" OD pipe.

I found that a G-Box didn't have the guts to drive mine, not sure if it lacked current, or if I have friction in the mount maybe? The mount seemed to work well with no load so I'm not sure what the issue is that kept the G-Box from working.

This weekend I hooked it up to an old MTI 2800A antenna positioner and I think it is going to work, it went about 45-50 degrees each side of true south and was able to come back with no assistance.

I will just have to select a hot transponder on my desired sat and drive the dish till I have signal, just using the MTI as a power source, sensor wires are not even hooked up.

Next step is to put a Geosat C2 on mine and try to get it tracking, would like to hear how you get along with yours.

Nice dish! Nothing like a big whopping dish to pull in the signal-shouldn't have a problem with anybody's S2 feed.

I don't care what kind of mount it has. Once you get that baby tracking you will love it! As A proud owner of one with a ortho feed and a 24 inch actuator, I can promise you will miss nothing up there. I can see from 40west to 137 west with my longitude of 82 west. Enjoy

Comp: Y'know I just might set this one up as a scanning dish. The hardware is now tight, this could be fun....Thanks
