KPAX/Big Sky - June 13

The Big Sky Conference and KPAX/Montana’s News Stations have entered into an agreement to broadcast 32 football and 16 basketball games over the next four years.

Montana’s News Stations will broadcast all eight of The University of Montana’s Big Sky Conference football games during the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 seasons. The football package will be highlighted by the annual Montana vs. Montana State football game, which will be played in Missoula in 2006 and 2008, and in Bozeman in 2007 and 2009.

Montana’s News Stations consist of KRTV-Great Falls, KAJ-Kalispell, KTVQ-Billings, KXLF-Butte, KXLH-Helena, KBZK-Bozeman and KXGN-Glendive. KPAX/KAJ-TV has been involved in coverage of the Big Sky Conference for nearly two decades.

In addition, the networks will televise all four Montana vs. Montana State men’s and women’s regular-season basketball games each year.

“The Big Sky has enjoyed its partnership with Montana’s News Stations, KPAX, and (general manager) Bob Hermes,’’ said Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton. “KPAX has contributed so much to the growth of the Big Sky and we look forward to KPAX again anchoring Big Sky football and basketball coverage throughout Montana.’’

“We are excited to continue the long relationship we’ve had with the Big Sky Conference,’’ Hermes said. “I think this is an unprecedented renewal in that it’s a four-year contract. It ensures that viewers in Montana will be able to enjoy Grizzly athletics, and more importantly view the Grizzly-Bobcat game across the state for free.’’

Big Sky Launches Big Sky TV.org

OGDEN, Utah, USA (July 17, 2006) - The Big Sky Conference signed a three-year contract with Sportscast Network (SCN) of Salt Lake City to video stream league football, volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball games on the Internet.

The agreement begins a new era in Big Sky Conference athletics. Beginning in the fall of 2006, all Big Sky Conference football games, as well as volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball games played in league arenas will be available for viewing around the world on the Internet at www.bigskytv.org.

“We are thrilled to have Sportscast Network on board with us as we enter the exciting world of video streaming,’’ said Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton. “This is just the beginning of what we hope will be great media endeavors that will benefit our fans and alumni around the world.’’

SportsCast Network and the Big Sky Conference are creating www.bigskytv.org, a web site devoted entirely to video streaming. For a fee, fans will be able to log on, watch their favorite games live, or watch archived events at all hours of the day. During events, fans will also be able to interact with other viewers via a live chat room. They will also be able to listen to radio feeds of their home team, and potentially have state-of-the-art real-time stats at their disposal.

“This will be unlike anything else currently available to fans of collegiate athletics,’’ Fullerton added. “SportsCast Network possesses some of the best technology available. Plus, our nine athletic departments will all benefit from the agreement; when you buy a subscription the revenue will go back to your favorite school.’’

“We look forward to providing the Big Sky Conference fans an unparalleled media experience,” said Michael Begley, SCN’s founder and CEO. “Our technology will enable the Big Sky to deliver live feeds to any device, ranging from television to PC’s to hand-held devices, such as PDA’s and cellular phones via Internet Protocol. Through a partnership with Daktronics, Inc, an industry leader in providing display and statistics solutions to college and professional teams, fans will soon have state-of-the-art real-time stats at their disposal. Live game statistics, available from Daktronics’ DakStats® statistics software, can be included with the streaming video and audio of each game to give fans a truly in-depth viewing experience. “

“We are very impressed with what SportsCast Network has to offer from a technological standpoint,’’ Fullerton said. “Their platforms are very mature in the industry. We are more than confident they will deliver a product our fans and alumni who can’t be at the stadiums and arenas will be thrilled with.’’
