2008 MLB Playoffs

Gotta give credit to Beckett. He has not been the same tough SOB that I remember last year, but somehow pulled it together for yet another elimination game. That dude is CLUTCH!

Sunday's ALCS Game 7 pitching matchup

Red Sox (Jon Lester) at Rays (Matt Garza)

8:07pm ET on TBS/ TBS-HD

Anybody here think the Rays can win today? I don't. Can you spell C-H-O-K-E?

If any team can do it it is this Rays team with Garza on the mound. I look forward to a fine game tonight. They will not lay down and die like the Indians did last year. These kids are hungry and can taste it. Plus Maddon is proving himself one excellent field manager.

He's sure proven it the last two games. Way to pitch around a guy to GET to JD Drew in G5. And how about having your slow ass catcher try to steal 2nd last night? I can't wait to see what he's got up his sleeve tonight. Intentional walk with bases loaded maybe? :haha

Tonight's starting lineups:

Red Sox
1. Coco Crisp, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. David Ortiz, DH
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. J.D. Drew, RF
6. Jason Bay, LF
7. Mark Kotsay, 1B
8. Jason Varitek, C
9. Alex Cora, SS
-- Jon Lester, SP

Rays
1. Akinori Iwamura, 2B
2. B.J. Upton, CF
3. Carlos Pena, 1B
4. Evan Longoria, 3B
5. Carl Crawford, LF
6. Willy Aybar, DH
7. Dioner Navarro, C
8. Rocco Baldelli, RF
9. Jason Bartlett, SS
-- Matt Garza, SP

The reason for Cora according to Boston.com is that sources said he "hits hard-throwing right-handers better than Jed Lowrie and therefore [they are] putting Cora in at shortstop."

Whats up with Ellsbury , where's he been ?

I notice that Crisp has been in CF for awhile now.

I'm not sold on Ellsbury. I don't see a baseball instinct there. One thing about baseball is that you can always trade a player for more than he is worth to a team he has had big games against, so there should be some team out there who will overpay for him.

This is getting bad...we are losing by 2 runs, hopefully we have a good 8th and 9th, otherwise we are done.

This is only his 2nd year in the majors and your giving up on him already ????

Jimbo

I'm not, Jimbo.

Granted, Jacoby has a long way to go at the plate, but IMO, he's a special talent. One that's worth being patient with.
