We have one matchup that is official:

BOSTON RED SOX

vs.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS OF ANAHEIM

Who do YOU like?

I'd like to be a homer, but IMO, this is the Angels year.

Angels in 4.

Lou Piniella has announced that Ryan Dempster will be his Game 1 starter when the Cubs NLDS series gets underway starting Wednesday.

There could be some intriguing pitching matchups in the Red Sox-Angels series.

Lackey vs. Beckett, Santana vs. Lester, Saunders vs. Matsuzaka all sound good to me.

BREAKING NEWS:

Mike Scioscia has just announced that the Angels chose the "long" series in the ALDS.

Here's the schedule for the Red Sox-Angels series:

Wed., Oct. 1- @ Los Angeles
Fri., Oct. 3- @ Los Angeles
Sun., Oct 5- @ Boston
Mon., Oct. 6- @ Boston*
Wed., Oct. 8- @ Los Angeles*

*- if necessary. ALL games on TBS. Game times will be announced Sunday.

I think Mike Lowell is very doubtful to play in the Angels series. He could hardly move tonight (hip injury that will need off season surgery) and had to be pulled after his first at-bat.

This actually works out for the Sox, now they don't have to use a 4th starter.

It will most likely go Beckett, Dice-k, Lester. Only because Dice-k is such a good road pitcher and Lester is better at home. I'll take Beckett in his 2 starts and Lester in game 3. Sox in 4.

I will make no predictions as I wish not to jinx anyone's chances ;). However, I do have one wish...I hope that all of the series leading to the World Series go long...no 3 or 4 games and then sit while someone is still playing. It totally killed Colorado last year and I would not want to see that happen again to any team.

Actually, I have another wish...I wish the Boston Red Sox and our dear friend Bill all the best in the ALDS. I hope we have a cleanly played, well-umpired, exciting series. I think it will be great because the two teams have palyed well together all season.

May the best team win, Bill!:hatsoff:

Same to you my friend. :up

The following are the possible NLDS matchups (assuming the Phillies hang on and win the NL East):

IF THE BREWERS WIN THE WILDCARD:

Dodgers vs. Cubs
Brewers vs. Phillies

IF THE METS WIN THE WILDCARD:

Mets vs. Cubs
Dodgers vs. Phillies

works out pretty good as each team theoretically should be able to bring back game 1 and 2 starters for games 6 and 7 on fairly normal rest if those last 2 games are necessary.

Just a small correction, the LDS is only best of five. But your premise is still correct, because game 1 and 2 starters can come back and pitch games 4 and 5 on normal rest.

Lou Piniella has announced that Ryan Dempster will be his Game 1 starter when the Cubs NLDS series gets underway starting Wednesday.

Piniella has announced that Carlos Zambrano, Rich Harden, and Ted Lilly will follow Dempster in the Cubs playoff rotation.

An extra day off between games 1 and 2.

This is stupid .... they just get started and they have to take a day off between game 1 and 2 ....

No wonder the WS is played in NOVEMBER in possibly 20*-30* weather.

Stupidity on who ever decided that this was a good thing.

It also killed Detroit in '06.

Very unfortunate that these two have to play in round one ...

I see the NL get screwed in the first round, no one that works will be able to see them 1 and or 3 pm starts.
