2014 FIFA World Cup Official Thread

Jérôme Valcke, FIFA’s secretary general, spent last week touring six stadiums, including the still unfinished Itaquerao in São Paulo. The stadium, which hosted a Brazilian league match between Corinthians and Figueirense on May 18, will be the site of the tournament’s opening game between the hosts and Croatia.
In the coming week Valcke will check in at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã, where the final will be played on July 13, then head north to Manaus, Fortaleza, Natal, Recife and Salvador.

Little more than 24 hours ´till the games begin.
Apparently things are not precisely fine and dandy in Brazil, I understand some stadiums were not completely finished, the grass is not the best in most of them. But anyway, let´s hope we can see some good matches.

Predictions for the opening match? Brazil vs. Croatia?

2-2 draw for me. Croatia is very underrated and despite not having their main man (Mandzukic) I think they can give a performance that can have Brazil scratching their heads.

I would just love to see Brazill get beat in their first game. I think they have a great team but they're just a perennial powerhouse that I'd love to see get beat.
