Who decided that it had to be 0 to be COLD ?

Well it would be far more fun watching southern teams playing in Dec. or Jan. in Minnesota, or Chicago snow or no snow. Humid cold air cuts like a knife. Gloves would make tackling, catching and throwing harder.
I'd say lower Midwest cold stings the surface... damp cold air, that just goes right through your bones. Even NYC is "warmer" than Boston. Why locals laugh at the idea of Thanksgiving with the natives in Plymouth in November. NO FREAKING WAY!!!

What's funny is that weather didn't play a factor in any of the games we're talking about. Yet the possibility that the Big Ten team might have one day played in frigid weather was used as an excuse for them (except Michigan which has a winning record against the SEC) losing in games that were played in nice conditions.

7 would be above 0.
Too cold for me now, after being here for over two years, I have become acclimated to the warmer temps here.

This morning, it was 58 when I got on the Life Cycle this morning, turned on the patio heater I normally use in January ( for about two weeks, always in the 40’s in the morning, 60’s during the day).

Back in Mighigan, I would of consider 58 to be a nice day.
And the bugs are that long... in feet. Any state that requires AC in the car to be full force in May or you die is a state I can live not ever visiting.
July and August are usually the worse, but I like the heat, fine with just a fan on me if outside on the patio during the day.

Also, kept checking the temps back home in Metro Detroit, they had a hot summer also, usually within a few degrees in July/August, I assume the humidity was a lot worse here.

Also I remember the hell I went thru typically in December till early March, have more then 4” and it always seemed that people forgot how to drive in it, or if more then 8” and it would take 3 days before the county gets around to plowing out our sub-division.

Yes, it can be hot in the summer and climate change is making it hotter, and extending that into the Fall too. But Florida just gets uber-humid, uber-uncomfortable.
Really? Don't see that issue around here in NE Ohio. Granted, I live in the valley, and maybe the bad winter drivers got weeded out naturally.

Again, I love it here.

Just had family here for the first time, a lot of them asked me if I would move back since the reason for moving here was because of my wife’s health, I said nope for the reasons I already posted.

Natural selection for bad drivers in the winter.

When I drove, not an issue, I would always see others not being able to handle it and worried they would hit me.

Wow.

The northern teams really could compete with the southern teams if only the bowl games were held in the outdoors in January.

To learn why the South dominates the north in football, you don’t need to pay attention to the weather man. Just pay attention to Sunday or Monday night football when the players introduce themselves. And say where they played in college.

There are 505 NFL players that played in the SEC (all of these figures are pre- the latest realignment and ignore transfers), 381 from the Big 10, 307 from the ACC.

Kids want to see if they are really good enough, so they test themselves against the very best of their generation. That is the SEC. Same reason other kids test themselves by joining the Marines, taking organic chemistry, learning to play the oboe, going to flight school, and so on.

As long as the perception is that the best are in the SEC, it will also be a fact. The move of Texas and Oklahoma, both of which will right themselves very quickly, only makes this more true.

This is from 20-21. It implies that the SEC is tops, but it isn't by a huge amount. Including recent transferring schools is a little silly.

Go to the individual school level, Alabama and OSU are 1 and 2, and close enough. Which indicates that great to be pro-football players played in the Big Ten and SEC. There is no question those two are the juggernauts these days. Big 12 used to matter.

Also, the argument above it a bit misleading. Because talent will want to play. Great, you got onto the Alabama squad... are you going to play college football and enhance your chances of getting to the NFL? Which might mean they go elsewhere.

Want to know who is kind of the best, looked at the national champions. I know, I know, the B10 isn't much on that list. I'm not happy about that either.

Playoff Expansion is a go for 2024/25

If the new rules were in play this year, assuming the strongest team wins it's conference championships, the playoff teams would be:

1 - Georgia (SEC Champion)
2 - Michigan (Big Ten Champion)
3 - TCU (Big XII Champion)
4 - USC (Pac12 Champion)
5 - Ohio State (Big Ten at-large)
6 - Alabama (SEC at-large)
7 - Tennessee (SEC at-large)
8 - Penn State (Big Ten at-large)
9 - Clempson (ACC Champion)
10 - Kansas State (Big XII at-large)
11 - Utah (PAC12 at-large)
12 - Tulane (AAC Champion)

*note* Washington & FSU could go above Kansas State & Utah based on whether they fall or not after loosing to TCU & USC.

Those numbers clearly tell you that those 3 conferences provide plenty of players ...
I listen to them too and am amazed by how many are NOT from Major conferences.

Hosting the 1st Championship game is a Great thing, however, not as Great as it may seem .... there are only so many places being invited to be THE place.

What I dread is, if Georgia again is a top team in 2024/25, which I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be, but this means they would be playing a Championship game AT HOME ...
That doesn't seem right, but oh well.

Then again, that doesn't happen very often in the NFL, so maybe that means Georgia Won't make it .....

And #18 Temple gets in ???? to a 12 team playoff ?
So the group of 5 gets to get beaten by the #1 or #5 team in the nation year in and year out ....

This isn't basketball where a team gets lucky and beats a higher rank team regularly .... theres a BIG difference between Football and Basketball, but those that choose won't wake up till its too late.
I suppose Tulane COULD knock off Georgia and make the path that much easier to the top for the rest ....
Nah, that ain't happening.

So an #18 team moves to the top 12, how does that 12th team deal with that ?

please remember that I’m feverish…

Regarding Ohio State as the Big Ten Championship heir-apparent, isn’t that what the Big Ten Championship Game is supposed to determine? If Purdue pulls off the upset, aren’t they the Big Ten Champions? If not, then what’s the freakin’ point of having a Championship Game (obviously money)?

Purdue should be the Big Ten Champion runner-up, not OSU.

You forget that the highest 4 conference champions get a bye. So the lowest seed, in this case Tulane (not Temple) would play at #5 Ohio State.

Without the guarantee of 6 conference champions, they would never have gotten the approval of all the conferences.

Personally I think it should have been expanded to 16 conferences with 8 conference champions.

If they win their division and then the championship game, they are the champion and Michigan is the runner up. Ohio State is nothing because they failed to win their division and make it to the championship game.
