70+ HD Channels in Engineering Mode

Hey Jimbo,

We are in a no man's land antenna wise. We sit between Ft Wayne and Toledo, 40-60 miles from the stations. We worked for hours to get the stations in and could not get them in sufficiently to keep me happy. Better SD that I can see than HD in and out. We just moved here. I lived 25 miles North and East of here before, and we got the Toledo HD channels crystal clear. Better HD than DirecTv HD :)

So I wait. I always remind myself that DirectTv SD locals are better than the old three snowy channels days I need to be patient. The Big Ten channel will tide me over as far as OSU sports. I hope we have a good year ahead of us....I am a little worried :)

Thanks for the welcome. I have been reading for awhile. Decided to jump in.

I would expect them to go live when the second sat goes up and is operational. Sometime around April/ May ...

I'm in your area too, been watching locals in HD for many years now. Throw up an antenna, maybe even an indoor one and see what you can get.
I use an outdoor antenna and now watch locals about 90 % more than I did before the HD came on line.

Also, :welcome to the site !!!

Jimbo

I love the idea that the HD channels will have the same numbers as the SD channels (I think). But I guess once you have so many HD channels, will that just clutter the guide up with too many duplicates?

I was hoping for a new order changeth but looks like that is not happening. I am not a channel number memorizing person. I would rather prefer to create my favorites and lump and group them based on my ordering.

With tonight's edge release for the H20-600 D* has included a option to hide SD versions of channels when a HD version is present. When I downloaded tonight's edge release for my H20-600 the option was defaulted to hide the SD versions of the locals I get from D*. I only had the HD local versions I get from D*. I did have my OTA versions as well.

Apparently tonight's HR20-700 edge release was suppose to have this feature as well but it got postponed until probably the next release.

The next national release of software for both machines will surely have this feature. This will be great timing since D* will be putting the HD versions of the new channels on the same channel number as the existing SD channels.

Is there any way to force this software upgrade on my H20-600? I have been waiting for a long time and even tried some code I found on this forum but it always downloads the same version I have.

CE Releases are only available from 11:30PM-2:30AM Eastern on selected nights, like last night and tonight. Please refer to the Living on the Edge forum for more details.

It's 11:00PM EDT to 2:00AM EDT on Fri/Sat for the CE window (normally).
