Well, I did get a blank recording right off the bat, so maybe that was part of the issue.

Did not see that one, and have not experienced that problem. Mine was a 1 hr recording going black at 30 minutes or some random point.

I have never received L654 and do not see it on the Dish list. However, I do notice version L655 with a date of 8/25/2009.

Were there problems with L654 and it is being replacerd with L655? When I have a few minutes later today I will do an onlince chat with tech support to see if I can get more information.

L654 definitely been in that list, you found updated status when Dish replaced L654 to L655 ( pretty quick and dirty trick - usually all version listed ). Perhaps customers got serious problem with the L654.

I have L655 now. Who knows why they release a SW, then two weeks later another comes out

During morning time (Pacific) the L655 wasn't spooling at 61.5/110/119/129 sats.
Perhaps it happened during short period of time (at night ?).

I noticed when I got L654 my acquiring satellite screen would show up a lot more when the other tuner was tuned to an OTA channel that experiences dropouts from multipath. I have L655 now and haven't seen the acqiuring screen yet. Could that have been an issue with L654?

Yeah, I did notice more multipath issues last week. Maybe that was part of it.
