I would gladly pay $1.99, maybe even $2.99, just for the convienence factor. But the current prices are way too high. Hopefully Dish will see that price really does matter with this little $0.99 test and lower the price!

we rented hot tub time machine this weekend and watched it last night. I think we ordered it like saturday so it lasted a couple days. Not sure if it is still on the DVR or not. i'll check when i get home from work.
FWIW, i would also rent more movies if they were $.99 up to $1.99 each. $6.99 is insane, you can almost buy the dvd for that much.

I know this much. DISH is higher than any other sat or cable provider I know of. They could afford to lower their prices to compete and if they wanted to be really bold, offer the lower price discounts on certain movies.

How about FAMILY FRIDAYS for $1.99 or.99 cents. Imagine the campaign they could run on tv for that one. DISH loves family and we show it with discounted family fun movies every Friday night. They could really get some business at that cheaper rate. Volume of customers would really add up.

Then maybe DISH could offer Porn Saturdays and give all the adult movie users a "hand" in discounting their movies. :eureka:

DISH would make money hand over fist!:up They could call it Half off Porn Saturdays!

Come on DISH think about it.:eek:k:

Time to find out if DISH's word is their bond.

I ordered/recorded She's Out of My League. Confirmation screen said that the movie would be available for 24 hours starting on the first playback and that the final viewing date is Nov 10, 2010.

we'll see if it stays there for awhile because I won't be able to view it until next week because the rest of my week is busy in the evenings.
We'll also see if it's a 99 cent charge or if it was mistakenly billed at the normal price. The title of the DVR entry says 99 cents so it should be locked in that rate.

I agree with you. At .99 or $1.99, I would also order a lot more movies from Dish. Right now I'm getting ready to sign up with NetFlix, but if Dish would lower their price on VOD I wouldn't bother with NetFlix.
Another thing Dish should think about, a lot of people don't think things through all the time and are very impulsive, so at .99 or $1.99, some subscribers might be pretty quick on hitting that VOD button with the mind frame that "It's only a buck or two", then finding out later that they ordered maybe 20 or more movies that month. Compare that to the same subscribers only ordering maybe 1 a month at $6.99.
(And I really like your suggestion for 1/2 off Porn Night!):D

When the item is deleted is not controlled/set by Dish but by the studios.

I agree with earlier post...I don't know if it would put other dvd companies out of business...but it would sure hurt them a lot in my opinion...

I mean who pays 6.99 for movies on dish???

I ordered hot tub time machine, shes out of my league, and green zone and would gladly pay .99 or even 1.99 like others said...

It's a great idea to do it once a week...but that would be to easy and dish would make to much money...

Wish Dish did this more often though and I loved the movies!!!
