Officials of Team Alabama, the Birmingham-based franchise in the All American Football League, say they've been left in the dark about reported plans of the league to postpone the first season -- or fold altogether.

The Florida Times-Union reported this morning, quoting anonymous sources, that the league would fold because of financial problems.

"Until we're told something, we're operating,'' said Team Alabama media relations director Eunice Elliot. ``It's business as usual and we plan to open the season April 19.''

The league, which held a draft in January, is struggling finding investors. Most of the financing is from Marcus Katz, the league founder and an entrepreneur out of San Diego.

So lets get out our scorecards: one third of the league doesn't even know if the league is in business or not, the other 4 teams haven't said anything. Goodbye, before they even hired anyone.
