Alternative to 129w ??

I have three separate dishes, I'm pointed at 110, 119 and 129.

I'm socked in by trees. When I put the dishes up, the trees were barren. But spring is on big times and the trees are fully greened up.
110 and 119, I have a clear line of sight to. But 129 is behind trees.

The eastern satellite at 61w is totally not possible because of trees.

I ~NEED~ my HD channels. I'm paying for HD and it's really getting worse and worse.
The other night I was trying to record The Dalai Lama on Piers Morgan Tonight (CNN) and the signal kept dropping out as the wind would whip the trees back and forth in the path of the signal.
I was livid..

I can't have this nonsense. I DVR a lot of stuff on a frequent basis. And the trees don't go barren again until late December!
There must be an HD satellite in the middle of the arc! Please tell me there is!

As it is now, I have a 1.2m dish aimed at 129w and during the "winter" when the trees were bare, I was getting signal strengths that were off the scale.
Now, it's barely working through the trees and if it weren't for the 1.2m dish, I'm sure I wouldn't get it at all.

Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a 1.8m dish that replace the 1.2m and I'll see if that will help but I know it's still going to be a problem.

Is there any alternative to 129w or 61w?? I can't believe they would do such a thing as to put the HD channels so far to the extreme horizons like that!

Thanks..

Opt 1. put it on the roof as 77 and 61.5 are the east birds u need.

Opt 2. 5 gallons of gas and some bottle rockets thrown around the street with matches all over will make the cops think those bad boys down the street fixed your LOS issues.

Opt 1. Not an option.

Opt 2. LMAO!! :dev

There are indeed a lot of little heathen boys around here that are always up to no good. The police frequently visit the hood here looking to chat with them..

Did you do this install yourself?? I find it hard to believe a sub or in house would put up three separate dishes. If you put it up, why would you point 129 into a tree?? Seems like your own fault to me. You could try relocating the dish to a better part of the roof clear of the tree, or buy a chainsaw. You could also get a shotgun and shoot off the infringing tree branches. Or spin the dish to pick up 72.7. Good luck.

Clear the line of sight to 129 by removing trees or elevating the dish over the tree tops. Switch to Eastern Arc if you have line of sight. For a location in the middle of the arc switch to Directv 99/101/103 for satellite locations.

Concentrate on getting 72.7. It's relatively high in the sky. As mentioned try line of sight from the roof. Or, do what I did because going back to Cable wasn't going to happen.

It's unfortunate that the sats can't be put so people everywhere can get everything. Each arc has three sat and you need 110 and 129 for WA (119 for sd programing not in HD). EA would be 72, 61.5 and possibly 77 if you need your HD locals. There is not enough room to have all the channels on each sat, they need to be spread over 2 or 3.

Yes, I did install them myself. I've been an FTA viewer for a few years and I graduated the satellite school of hard knocks. I believe that I am experienced enough to do an installation of any size and type of dish. I may need some physical help with the labor but I know what and how to do it..

As for why, I repurposed several large 1m and 1.2m ku dishes. My yard is wrapped in trees and there's not a lot I can do about it. The dish aimed at 129 is a 1.2m I had aimed at 123w to get Freespeech TV..

It is on a 3" pole, I could not relocate the dish in the yard or to another pole because I don't have any more 3" poles, all the rest of the poles are either 2.5" or 4" (being used for my C-band dishes)..

When I set this up, the trees were all barren so it wasn't a problem. Now, it is.

Putting dishes on my roof or attached to my house are not options, the trees are worse by my house.

My dad came by today and we talked about paying someone to cut some of them down.. The trees are all on the neighbors sides of the fence but where they hang over the fence, I can legally cut them. It's gonna be expensive.
It may be weeks or months before this can happen though.

Dee what kind of signals are you getting on the 129 sat?

Transponder 17-32 is fine (1-16 is spotbeams)

I'll go through and get the numbers this evening and PM them to you..

:)

Dee you can post them here on the board :)

Also it hasnt been noted but Dee's locals are on both arcs so for her to get them in HD she would have to aim at 61.5 which cant do because of trees. Originally we thought 61.5/72 for her setup but too many trees for 61.5 so thats why she aimed at 129

[SUP]1[/SUP] = 129 after tweaking the dish pre-spring, bare trees

[SUP]2[/SUP] = 129 with the trees fully greened out, strong winds blowing the trees so the signals are bouncing up and down, low and highs are noted.

The low numbers on 129 are the predominate numbers now, the high numbers are uncommon now and I have to sit and wait 4-5 minutes for a strong gust of wind to blow the trees out of the way to see it jump up a little but it sits on the low numbers most of the time now.

This is BS... My yard is like a green cave with just a little peephole to see the southern sky through. My neighbors are lazy a**es that have never bothered to do yard work. Birds sit on the fence and poop seeds then these garbage trees grow up and they just let the grow and grow.. They could have cut them down when they were 1 foot tall but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooOOOoOoOOOOOoooOOOO!!!!!! That would have been tooooooo hard!
The trees are all on THEIR sides of the fence, on both sides and the back too.

If I poison them it might be a little obvious what's going on there. Some of them are too far on the other side of the fence for me to reach but they all have large limbs that hang over the fence into my yard. My dad and I talked about having someone come out and cut them down but then it's impossible to drive a cherry picker into my back yard, my gate is only 5 feet wide. Not only would my fence have to be taken down, the neighbors fence would have to come down to to make room to drive a cherry picker back there. So I don't know how they could do it. Unless they have a trained monkey that can use a chainsaw.

I know one thing for 100% certain, if I had not put up that 1.2m dish, there is NO WAY I would be able to get HD with stock Dish Network dinky dishes.
I tried to get that 1.8m dish yesterday but it wouldn't fit in my dad's van so we're going back next week to try another way to bring it home. That sure won't hurt anything to have a really big dish.

I think I'll convert that 4m dish to Dish ku circular.. Then to heck with the trees!

Well that came out a mess.. :( It won't keep the columns in line. I hope you guys can make sense of that. If not, I'll put it in a .gif image so it can't mangle it up..
I tried to edit it after the fact but that just mangled it up even worse.. :(

If you're talking about the table in post # 18, it looks great to me! (Columns aligned, not the SS!)
