I got a flyer today from Harbor Freight.
Two items we've recently discussed here were listed.
Obviously, I haven't had a chance to go to the store to examine them.
And I'm not suggesting mail order, but if you have a local store, give 'em a look.
I've returned a thing or two to the stores, and had not trouble at all getting a refund.

Big Button Remote:
two item numbers both for $8
item number: 55689&

item number: 95816

Angle Meter:
item number 95998 for $25

Thanks smiling lizard, the Angle Meter is of interest to me. I'll try and get over to Harbor Freight and check it out....... tools are always good to have..... my biggest problem with tools is using the wrong/right tool for the right/wrong job.... just yesterday, I broke the tip on a perfectly good Craftsman Common Screwdriver, while using it as a Pry Bar..... I hope it's still replaceable, since K-Mart bought out Sears....?

Hey, just get yourself $10 worth of "pry bars" over at Harbor.
They have a lot of one-use tools.

And if you choose to get the angle meter, let us know what you think.
I went out a few months ago and got one at Sears on sale, but then had buyer's remorse and took it back the next day.
Frankly, the display was hard to read, and for $40, I expected better.

I bought the angle meter from Harbor today. Works well, two decimal places is a joke ie 2nd place is always "0". Resolution is about +/- .1 so it is good for 1/4 degree. Repeatability is about the same +/- .1. I like it and believe it is worth the $25.

checked out the toys

I saw the angle meter locked away in a cage.
Worried it might be a little small.
But, if it goes on sale some time soon, I may not be able to resist.

As for the remote, my goodness!
That is a handfull ! - - Compare size to my hand... and I don't have no little girlie hands, either...

Anole, If you get a chance, I'd like to hear your take on that remote as to how well it works on your TV, SAT, DVD, or other black boxes you have connected. It looks like something that won't get lost in the sofa!

heh, that wouldn't get lost on my coffee table, with all the OTHER remotes!
It's arguably too big! :D
And, I didn't actually buy one.
I was just at the store and took a picture of it to add to this thread.

Was awkward twisting my hand that way to hold it, to show enough fingers for size.
Normally, you'd hold it with you thumb toward the camera, but that'd hardly show relative size.

On your recommendation, I just ordered one. I have been fighting with this Paraclipse for two days now, and I decided (actually Linuxman decided for me) I needed something better than the 8.00 Johnson home depot angle finder witht he needle that bounces like a rubber ball...:)
