Declination angle

I take the mount degree stampings with a grain of salt. They aren't finite nor accurate to a tee. "Racking" the side-side declination a touch is understandable because that's exactly what I did to get perfect tracking. There's a bit of "what if I????"

The top ballbearing I changed was in very bad condition but I was always able to tweak it back into position and I only ever changed declination angle one time about 5 years ago and I couldnt remember how much we moved it.

I know this is a few years old but i tried to determine my declination using a link someone posted on page 1but it isn't detecting my location and when i enter my address it just sits there. Can anyone tell me my declination at latitude 36 degrees, I currently have it at about 46 degrees and can get some channels but only a fraction. I am on 103w but I am trying to get 101w.= Thanks

46 degrees? You sure that isn't your elevation setting, because that's about what it should be for 36 degrees Lat. WHOOPS: edit, elevation would be 36 degrees

As for actual Declination, it should be about 5.7 degrees, maybe a hair less.

I have the elevation set at 36 degrees the part that pivots and the declination, back of dish itself, is about 46.

I am not great at this i suck at geometry. So i add the 5.7 to my elevation,?

See my edit, elevation is correct at 36 degrees, I mistyped. Declination would be around 5.7~ and is normally set on a small bolt that tilts the dish slightly up or down. Do these when the dish is oriented TRUE North and South, at it's top peak.

When you add them together, the face of your dish would be at 41.7 degrees.

Ok I'll give that a try i think its pointing true north/south on the pole but with my phone compass plus the NOAA one available online i can't get the same reading twice if i get too close to the dish my bearing starts deviating

I am getting court tv stuff on 103w but i am kinda tired of it so i thought id go to 101w but i cant get anything other that jewelry channels and a few incrypted channels, no MeTV nothing even shows up. I may have a polorotar issue but i am pretty sure my geometry is off so starting there. I do appreciate the help

On a bad day, on 101W C SES1, you may only see Daystar and Jewelry channels. The rest may be encrypted. Others can advise if the Weigel mux (METV) is encrypted now or not.

According to lyngsat its not showing any encryption. It does seem to go in and out of encryption though.
