I would rather go down to the local lumber yard and sit and watch the wood warp than watch baseball- just saying :).

Cable for the Woodstock Concert and for Edenfest. I didn't watch Edenfest, I was there.

Edenfest was 3-day concert that took place July 12–14, 1996 at Mosport Park, in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada.

The concert sold over 70,000 tickets total for the 3 day event and was attended by another estimated 20,000 people who walked into the concert site after the outside security broke down. This festival that included music as well as multiple other types of performers was held by Eden Entertainment Group based in Buffalo, New York. The concert was one of the first major concerts to be streamed live over the internet. This event was the largest rock festival held in Canada to date. Artists that performed include The Tragically Hip, The Cure, Porno for Pyros, Bush, Live, the Goo Goo Dolls, Ani DiFranco and over 50 other performers.

Woodstock 1999 was in Rome but Woodstock 1994 was in Saugerties, not far from the original site.

Interesting news. I just signed up with Dish again after streaming for the last year or so. YouTube tv is the best and most reliable but still not the same experience as Dish even with 100mb internet. Prices have gone up though. Glad to be back, install tomorrow.

Right on cue... I got an email today from At&t -Directv. The first I ever got with Directv as part of the heading. (I have At&t cell)
It's a survey about streaming, preferences etc. Interestingly once you open the survey it's only Directv as the heading on each page of the survey. Questions like do you know about streaming available from At&t? have you used At&t Watch TV? Have you used online streaming...Nothing about satellite at all.

"Market in View LLC, an independent market research firm, has been asked by AT&T to collect feedback on your video services."

I got a similar survey from Cricket Wireless this week (an AT&T-owned MVNO)

The sister-in law- only lasted 3 weeks before she had it reinstalled. Streaming sounds great until that is all you have . Someday, but not today.

I have had the Roku since early 2014 just after Charter offered high speed out here. It was and is a nice "add on" to get programming not available elsewhere, but it does not replace Dish. The apps are nice with the Dish subscription, as it adds on demand for me only having the vip211k. Streaming still has a ways to go. Not enough channels and not all of the networks. If you have good OTA, then that is filled. Here we have most but not all OTA. I bough the Fire TV earlier this year also for channels Dish or the Roku does not have. Dish Anywhere is not on the Roku, but on Fire TV. TCM was not on the Roku until yesterday. It was only on Fire TV. Having the Roku and Fire TV gave me the option to get HBO after Dish dropped it. So streaming does have a lot of perks and with the Roku,\ and the Fire TV, 50 or more apps can be added each week. There is a lot of junk, but some good stuff. Most of it is free too.

Whether streaming will "work" depends on the individual viewer and their preferences. I just talked to a coworker yesterday who said she cut the cord a year ago and has been more than happy. She has good OTA reception, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and maybe one other. She says she has no problem finding content to watch.

Live sports still keeps me away from streaming. That, and I think our internet has been out more in the last year than satellite has been in two.

What directv is doing is basically cable over internet...its not really streaming as we know it...you will have the same experience as satellite without the ugly pizza dish

I had that one as well. If you look at the reviews and Reddit’s and try them all they all have different reliability and channels. Yes they have locals in some/most markets and live sports. Trouble is with some of the providers during a high peak time like championship games they bill buffer no matter the speed of internet. Also, they all pixelate at times and downgrade in resolution. They’re about 30-60 seconds behind dish. Picture quality isnt quite as good. You can have 2-5 streams per household depending on service. The dvr isn’t nearly as good as it is a cloud dvr. The guides aren’t quite as good. Yes you can save money and it’s a compromise of some sorts. Most are missing either some channels. For ex yttv is missing scripps/discovery/Viacom nfl network and rz.
I also think the pricing is not going to last as they’re already losing money on each sub.
