Coolsat 8000HD OTA Tuner setup instructions

Did some advanced search but can't find anything. I want to try to get my locals OTA in my Coolsat 8000HD, have look and read the users manual but cant find anything either. Have anyone know if there is any place I can look for??? Thanks

OK...memory is foggy but lets see if I can remember by looking at pics

you want to do a DTV auto scan
next screen set it up like this

start frequency 470000
end frequency either 700000 or 806000...reason I say this is in the US digital TV stops at 51 but in PR it may still go to 69...1st one is 51 2nd is 69
steps 1000
scan mode free
service type TV

Now this will get you channels 14-69...but since I dont know where on the island you are there are some stations that kept their same channel as digital...usually channels 7-13 kept the same so you'll have to do another scan but change the start and end to
175000-214000

this will scan in the VHF Hi channels. Most stations use the UHF band for digital....if you dont know what channel is where click here

and then on the call sign...its hows what the digital channel is (and what it maps to...example is WAPA is channel 27 digital but maps to 4-1 (its old analog number)

now note the 8000 will NOT get any analog stations...so if a station is still analog it wont pick it up

Found the screen. I was wondering what DTV stand for???now I know. no analog anymore here. Our digital locals range from channel 2 to 68 with some scales such as 2.1, 4.1, 4.2 etc. So, what will be my range for start and end Again, Thanks a lot!!!

while the channels may show 2, 4 etc the digital channel is actually in UHF. It just "maps" to those channels you all remember

Now again I dont know where in PR you are but I'll use San Juan as example....Per wiki I'll list the channel that you know and what the digital channel actually is

WKAQ 2....28
WAPA 4...27
WIPR 6...43
WSTE 7...7
WLII 11...11
WORO 13..13
WSJN 15...20
WTCV 18...32
WXWZ 22..23
WJPX 24...21
WPRU 26...26 (still is analog on 20 also)
WSJU 30...31
WDWL 36....59

so as you can see other than 7, 11 & 13 the rest are in the UHF band. SO you will need 2 scans
one for the UHF (as posted above)
one for the 3 VHF hi stations

now if you're in Ponce or Mayaguez the channel numbers may change but there are still both VHF Hi & UHF stations so you'll need 2 scans. Dont worry once you're done if a channel is added (a subchannel) all you have to do is a manual scan for one frequency

OK maybe this will show it easier...here is a tvfool report for San Juan

the area that has the black box on it...the 1st column is what the channel is broadcasting on digital (the REAL channel its broadcasting)
the 2nd is the "mapped down" channel...the one that you know (what they were on when they were analog)

you can run a tvfool report by going to tvfool.com
Now they dont list PR as a state but if you put in city and zip it will show you what channels you can get

Did the OTA scan and got most of the locals. I'm only missing UNIVISION (which is channel 11) and its High Definition. I used the following parameters yoiu gave me, :

start frequency 470000

Ok Found them
They were below the 470000

7.1 was on 177000
11.1 was on 201000

When I had my 8000 all of Minneapolis was on UHF...after the conversion our 9 & 11 (Fox & NBC) moved back to 9 & 11 but the 8000 was sold by then

Now if a station adds a subchannel you can add it manually
(now all of this is off of memory so may be foggy)

on a channel if you hit info it shows the frequency. Or you might have to bring up the channel list, find the channel then hit info.
Then do a manual DTV scan and enter the frequency

So lets say Univison adds a subchannel. Then do a manual scan and put in the frequency of 201000. Any subchannels added will show up then

Thank you so much, I got all my locals in both the CS8000HD and the Pansat 9200HD- Pretty similar process(removed the Iluminatti S2 board that came in and now its working more cooler till I can get the Pansat S2 Premium kit)
I wrote everything down for future references!!! Again, Thanks a lot
