The STO nightmare lives on. Directv has loaded into its database zipcodes in the Rochester, NY area as STO outer ring. This is a mistake and has cost us in Rochester with 145 and 144 zip codes to be blacked out on EI. Advanced tech support admits the mistake, but so far the powers to be seem to care less! I wish I could get hold of someone who could really help. I think i know the reason for the screw up, but it is impossible to get the info to the right person! BTW..The reason is those prefixes have zips in Buffalo tv mkt along with Roch. The Buffalo DMA is in Cleveland terrritory. The Directv database cannot use ranges, but needs to specific with 5 digit codes!

For those viewers outside of these zip code zones please call 1-800-494-4388 or visit www.directv.com/email.

It's not DTV that's saying it has to be in ranges, it's STO. They specify who and where.

I've gone thgough 30 145** and 30 144** zip codes and none of them are showing up as RSN with STO from http://www.directvsports.com/Blackout_Info/ for the RSN lookup.

I am not in Cleveland territory one way or another. I also have EI. Why am I blacked out? I am only blacked out on STO telecasts. I can watch Cleveland on any other RSN on EI!

I spent too much time figuring out the issue, but here it is...
The issue has really nothing to do with STO per se. The Indians have a claim to the Buffalo DMA, but areas outside of that fall under the MLB. My issue which I will contact Directv tomorrow in California is the use of the wrong zips. The zips for NY are the same for the Pirates and Indians. Direcv has been using the wrong zips this season. They have use 140xx to 148xx all inclusive. The Indians only claim 14000 to 14305 and 14701 to 14788. All zips in between should receive Indians in EI! Directv needs to correct the data base to reflect this!

Everyone needs to understand that it is not just blackout rules that prevent MLB EI from broadcasting games. For example if FOX Regional Sports (or anyone else) has bought exclusive rights to a game, then MLB EI cannot brodcast it. This creates a situation where even if you buy MLB EI, there are still a number of games that you could receive through FOX regional sports network (if you pay more money)..

Another way to look at this is that MLB EI provides the games that no one wanted to buy the rights to.

After talking with corporate headquarters, the problem is fixed. Rochester once again has Cleveland Indians on EI!:)

But there are still those of us that live in NW PA (16727) that Directv won't give us STO and all the Indians games are blacked out.

I think he meant he was able to get them to agree HIS zipcode was eligible; if you as sure yours is also, you will need to call them as well. They use the zipcoded database tables they are sent from MLB.

I'd love to get to the bottom of this.....D* claims that STO has not licensed the games outside of the Cleveland "inner circle" but can't show me anything in writing. STO has sent numerous emails/statements to the effect they sold the entire rights package to D* and that it wasn't in D* best financial interest to broadcast the games in the entire Indians territory. So my situation again in ZIP 16727: Per MLB, ZIP 16727 is the territory for the Indians and Pirates therefore Pirates and Indians blacked out on MLB EI. Get the Pirates on FSN Pittsburgh used to get Indians on FSN OH as part of SportsPack. Now STO is only available in the "inner market" of Cleveland, D* won't make available in all of the Indians territory, therefore no Indians baseball on TV for me except any ESPN Sunday night games (even ESPN2 was blacked out for me when the Indians were on)

The list I see starts at 43468, not at 43000. We in Columbus do not receive the telecasts and I am in 43209

What's funny us ones in Columbus started out in the zip codes listed on STO. Then out the blue it changes. Oh spoke to D* about it from the trier two CSR siad if I got the MILB package I would get STO. Oh gee spend more money on D*!

THAT is what frosts me. Blackout here, blackout there, UNTIL you buy EI THEN you don't have to live with it!!!!

Keep writing congress.

Let me relate a story illustrating the insanity of blackout rules. I watched (D* Ch 647) a Cardinals vs Pirates game last night.
I noticed today that 647 was rerunning last night's game. I turned to CH 647 and guess what? The game I watched live last night was now blacked out on the rerun on the same channel.

No I am not in the Pirates or the Cardinals home territory. Yes I have EI and sports pack. I am very interested in knowing if anyone can explain this one to me.

PS after the game was over I could watch 647 again, so the channel is available to me.

I currently receive STO fine in Columbus from D*. Right now the Red Sox are playing the Indians on STO. I also saw the change in Zip Codes a couple of days ago and was worried about this but then found that the channel is currently still available.

Folks in the situation are not only blacked out on the RSN, they are blacked on EI as well. Subbing to EI will not fix these type of blackouts. Another example, that has been hashed out for a while, is that the Giants and A's are blacked out in Las Vegas. D* used to carry FSBA in Vegas with the sports pack, and they decided not to do it this year. The Giants and A's are considered "in-market" and therefore, are also blacked out on EI. I think this is what the OP was saying when he said the only Indians games he'll be seeing is either Saturday or Sunday national broadcasts.

I've given up on D* rectifying the situation. Thank god I have XM and can listen to the games. It wouldn't hurt so much if I hadn't been able to see the games last year on FSN OH.

Its so funny now. Yes I too am getting the games, but according to STO's web site and D* its self I am not suppose to get STO. Well, I am not going to to say anything to D* about it!:smug

I was just on the phoen with a D* rep tryign to find out why this channel didn't work for me in MI. she had no clue. I should have come here first. I just wanted to watch Cleveland all Pro Wrestling!
